When I was doing filming I was tested every 3-4 weeks at the Beacon,Medical Centre in Cleethorpes. The service was free, however they didn't seem keen on doing it,mainly for ethical reasons,it seemed to me. They told me next time I'd have to get tested at our local hospital and pay for it.They also said that although the hospital would test me they wouldn't put the results in writing?????????!shrug!

This is all about a few producers who call themselves UKAP trying to control the British porn industry

Really Graham? What do you know about the UK adult industry to warrant such a throwaway comment? What do you know about UKAP? Havde you even bothered to join? Its open to anyone who even produces.

if this was all about controlling the industry then we have missed the boat by a long shot because there is a certain induvidual who actually makes a few million out of it already ...Now thats what i call real control.

The clinics are not UKAP approved either. They will be affiliate to the scheme by arrangement with the clinics themselves. Why dont you come to a meeting and find out for yourself like others have done in the past then make up your mind from that. Assuming yopu are a producer of course. You do have a site. Do you actually produce as well?

Planeterotica also wrote:

"Let me ask you a question, if this database happens and you are offered a well paid shoot with a girl who isnt on the database but has certs would you turn the job down"

Im not Keiran but I would if it said NHS and if i thought the girl was unreliable.

Dont you know already there are certain people in this industry that will not work with individuals because of where they get their tests. Its not my place to name them but they know who they are and its up to them to come forward and back up my claim. So in a way its two tiered now anyway if not always has been so what difference does it makes.

I'm not against the Freds In the Sheds but they wil have to at least appear to be a bit professional too at some point. This throwing caution to the wind can also be seen as being part of the problem and if you consider yourself responsible then think that not everyone thinks the same as you.

Whats wrong with a bit of standardisation? That is not controlling the industry. UKAP are doing the thankless job of trying to make this happen but yet you can comment freely against it behind a keyboard. Thats not contribution for the better is it?

You dont want know part of it because you dont trus an association of producers who some are very much like yourself who are willing to help do things that will better the industry. Sounds like you should set up your own association to do something about it if you ask me. I'm not against healthy competition or is it thatyou favour the industry being fragmented the way it has been for so long?

You talk about the database not working and dividing the industry but the 10 day testing will be just as bad. I cant see new talent coming in and getting tested every 10 days.

While thi sis better this is not a deterrent to infect either. Even if the tests were done everyday.

The 30 day test on the database will reduce stds and most importantly like AIM during an outbreak, reduce th enumbers by isolating all those who are infected as a form of damage limitation.

As it is right now we have no real way of knowing anything as Harmony said with lost certs with place like the NHS of which unless you are tested privately you might as well consider your personal information compromised anyway if the government use it as part of their statistics.

Was it not the government that has recently been losing data? And the NHS?
Yes peope are pre empting UKAP already. LOL

Thing is UKAP is a 3ed of the adult producing industry whether you like it or not. It is you if you want to come along and do something about it. Out there alone complaining is no good.

Organisations like health clinics will listen to a body of people representing the same interests. Not one individual by themselves...Unless you have lots of money of course.

The clinics virtually found us because the industry was so fragmented it looked like there was no way of penetrating the adult production industry yet you still perceive us as the enemy. Thats just pure timewasting.

Now excuse me while I embezzle the millions in UKAPs slush fund.

Heidi's problem seems to be quite common with the free testing aspect because for the most part those clinics resent the adult industry for the very nature of what we do probably assuming we are asking for it anyway.

The only people that will be in control is not th eUK adult industry but the clinics. Not UKAP.

The clinics need to know that you want this service to be available. If you dont then its business as usual for them and its back to playing russian roulette with our health for us.

I suspect the real problem with some "Fred in the Shed" productions ( I consider myself part of that group) is that most of them do not give a shit about their health or the health of others and probably prioritise just wanting to fuck the porn star "girl on the telly" over making a video anyway.

Fred wont be enjoying it too much when he is pissing "hot glass" through his japs eye and blaming it on "that diseased ridden whore" when she was the angel of his dreams a few days earlier...Oh and wheres she gone!? She doesnt answer her phone or emails anymore.

Thats the system you are still happy with is it? I would rather not bring in any more new talent if this system is to remain.

You obviously seem happy the way it is.

I'll answer straight and honest....

Nope if the girl can't be arsed to go to the same place like everyone else then why would i do the scene???

If the company booking had anything about them they wouldnt use the girl till she had the right certs in place...

Next questions please...

Looking through these posts the only two tier going on here is the industry opinions which seem largely in favour versus the opinions of armchair critics who have no real involvement with the adult industry unless they are affiliates of a bunch of websites.

I thought as Keni said this was a discussion?

Maybe UKAP should start a bit smaller? how about a common code of practice, Ie. When you go for a test it should have been for the following stds etc and you should be tested every x amount of days. That added to a database of Clinics and a glossary of health advise could really be a step in the right direction.

Heres an existing system you might want to look at http://www.gaikiss.org.uk/

Will you be pushing condom use within the industry? because as previously mentioned both condom and certs together is the safest possible form of shoot and the industry should feel an obligation to be promoting condom use.

Just my two peneth, Maybe youve already thought of all this and i would be glad to hear your views.

So what is the point of posting this issue on this forum as you know full well this is a fan based forum, if you are saying that non industry people shouldnt have a view on it then you shouldnt post it here, and to make a point i have probably over the years done more shoots where certs were involved than a lot of the people on here who consider themselves industry.

And anyone who believes that a cert is valid for 30 days needs to think again and just to remake the point a cert is only valid on the day you were tested, therefore a database would be of more use if the time between test was a shorter period, now you have a two tier system because i am against a database if certs are valid for 30 days but i am very much for a database if the certs were valid for a shorter period.

Thank you very much to ALL of the performers for the slowly increasing flow of information. I am glad that we are realising the benefits of collating this information. We are gradually showing some unity in a common positive goal and that is a great move in the right direction. To all those posted here, who felt more comfortable to email me at my personal address (shown on my profile) or have actually called me directly, thank you all.

I am fully in support of this healthy discussion too. If there are valid questions then the only way that we can share the information and have them answered is by asking. In fact I would go further to say that please, lets ask MORE and presume LESS. The gossips or preconceptions about the aim of these proposals are doing nothing, however the discussions about this topic should at least be educating us all and ridding many of any unfounded worries.

If you can see the benefit of the database for our damage limitation, protection and passage of information purposes then surely you can now see how that out weighs everything else that has been discussed on this subject as it is our HEALTH we are addressing here. Nothing to do with the UKAP, control measures, data protection or anything else. As soon as I have time I am going to post some details of how the system works in Prague.

Perhaps even though it is clearly obvious how reliable and good the system is in LA, perhaps Keiran can also follow up with a step by step description of how it works in the states too. I do not see many people commenting on how ridiculous AIM is!? This way for those doubters you can see exactly how a similar system is only going to be a good thing for the UK.

Finally I wanted to repeat that, YES this the safety and HEALTH of the performers in OUR industry. Be POSITIVE and do something about it, if their is something you are unsure of or don't know then just ask so that we can help each other.

Love,

Keni
