So what do you make of tonights tv show?
Re: The papers opinion
As I thought, too small to read, you'll have to copy & paste into PSP or similar.
Re: For those who missed it..
For professional reasons I thought it prudent not to rock this particular boat too much, hence the unusual name. However, the facts of the matter are just that, FACTS.
I did not and have not seen the show.
I was called late in the evening by someone in the industry who had just watched it - I had forgotten all about it till then.
My friend and colleague was quite emotional and was of the opinion that it was totally negative and made the industry look bad. It was I who suggested that this was just the usual trick of the mainstream media to make porn look bad and sad by taking things out of context and using clever editing. He was adamant this was not the case, his words were "No, they made themselves look bad." and this from one who edits in the course of his work.
I have not offered an opinion - I don't know, I haven't seen the show - If I recall correctly I was engrossed in composing a bgafd post at the time - I was just reporting someone else's view who works in the industry and knows a number of those featured. I piped up because as I was brooding on the phone call - unusual at that time of night unless it's important - 'EJ' came on and said something about it being a good show and all those featured look OK, if not wonderful. I thought "WHAT?" This was a totally opposite view to the one I had just been given and as I have absolutely no reason to doubt the sanity and integrity of my industry friend I immediately thought "Bullshit!" and felt compelled to put finger to keyboard.
It seems there is a consensus of opinion here that those in the program did not look to good and that by extension it made the whole British industry look cheap and sad. It's not sour grapes woody, so 'don't shoot the messenger.'
GMS.

Re: The papers opinion
Just a quicky cause I am real busy with work, at the time of filming Violet was really stressed she had just started tackling big problems that had persued her for 25years, she has made changes to her looks and personality in the last two years that would scare and confuse all of us,,please remmember 2 years ago she was mega different babe. All the changes have been of her own choice and I have gone with her decisions ever time. To try and answer some of the questions,
Its not easy money its real hard money
Ask anyone in the industry how hard it is.
Be the boss of any company and feel some pressure.
I work on average 18hours a day.
We have done loads of shows for TV and they have all be possitive this one was very different. The producer is an award winner for hard/strait documentaries. They were with us for over a month and even though there was some great day's/weeks they never showed them. We kept setting up shoots and good events for them to see us at work but they were not really interested in that. Autum is a very sweet girl she came down for an hour to set up a fake Truck shoot so the crew could see one shot being done. We only faked it so there is no scene of her in the fuck truck series but I would like to shoot her again for next one. I think the point of that was to wind Violet up as they new it would annoy her and it did. They where very good at winding us up kind of like the good cop/bad cop routine. I just never took the bait as much as Violet.
Venus was a massive success for us Violet is one of the top stars there and even though they filmed us having a great time you never saw it. I could go on but how about a quick up to date review.
We are together, Violet and myself would like to get married this year, we are very much in love. The documentary is us on a few bad days. We are totally focused on work for this year. we have just finnishe a big movie. Violets first French film is out on Canal +, Alec has it on DVD ask him what Violet is like in it. Vegas was great and we were on top form ask anyone who met us. This program has got us some big media coverage all has been possitive and I think will do us all good. Like a Rocky movie we get up of the canvis to beat the big guy.

Re: For those who missed it..
Jesus, the forum's very own Dear Deidre, it must get mighty cold camping out on that high moral ground. Is it just me or has anyone else noticed this thread contains a plethora of first time posters. The words axe and grind spring to mind.
Re: The papers opinion
it may be of some consolation that 2500 people accessed violet's page, immediately after the show last night.
Re: The papers opinion
Cheers for that Woodgnome both our web-sites got battered as well, I see a great topic above full of different views, some "doom and gloom" some "who cares" and some "well dones" but at lease we get some opinions. The most important thing for us is the support from our friends which is flooding in, thanks. Violet needs you all to get behind her she is a bit fragile right now,,,,me well I can take it, and I never robbed a bank (in case plod reads this).
Violet is reading all these posts and will respond to any e-mails or questions,

Re: For those who missed it..
I have no axe to grind - and have posted intermittently - but Violet struck me as a far cry from the "strong" women from Vivid and co interviewed and broadcast by R4 at 8.30 last night.
Violet was shown as uncomfortable with many aspects of her life -from her eating, to performing, to watching Jim fuck - it that aint worthy of a bit of encouragement then apologies for not being dispassionate enough for ya.

Re: More thoughts.....
Jim and Violet's personal life aside (and they seemed pretty happy when I saw the pair of them out in Vegas a fortnight ago), this show was always going to be seedy and exploit the pair of them.
The fly-on-the-wall/Louis Theroux docu-soap style is pretty well worn now, and I'm sure that Jim knew exactly what the pair of them were getting in to when they agreed to be followed.
With the best will in the world to Jim, he represents one sector of the adult market, albeit a prevelant one in the UK (since there's no money in porn in this country). A documentary about the inner workings of Vivid Video or Wicked Pictures would, by comparison, have been anti-septic and dull.
British TV likes the seedy side of the adult business. A documentary about a men's magazine would be duller than a wet January in Worthing. Following a couple of colourful characters like Jim and Violet, who are pretty much porno guerilla fighters, and then trying to get them alone and ask probing questions, on the other hand, makes good TV.
I thought it was a pretty funny show, but then I have the benefit of knowing the background of both Jim and Violet and have been in the business long enough to take pretty much everything with a large pinch of salt. The only aspect that did concern me, and the only one that could potentially come back and bite them both in the arse, was the blatant dope smoking, which Mr Plod might have spotted.

Re: More thoughts.....
Hi mate that was not pot it was herbal tea, don't you think it was kind of boring cause there was not much porn in it, they shot loads of great stuff like an interview with Jayce and Autum and even photo/video shoots non of this you saw. The Candice shoot was for Penthouse & ICE not for Porn the had that all wrong, I feel the documentary was more about the maker than us, like I said he continualy set Violet up and kept us appart to get some bits, you are right we were on top in Vegas (I have some great pictures) that is us, we party'd up big time and even missed our flight back staying another night in LA, Violet took me to the Lap Dance bar next to airport and tipped every girl in the place, Thats Violet. What this has done is got us loads of Media attention and most has been great look at Daily Record.http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/features/f ... teid=89488
We are in top form today and looking forward, give me a call you have the no's,
Jim
