We've had heated discussions about Max Hardcore before, but he really gives porn a bad name. He's not celebrating sex or sexuality. He's celebrating his ability to degrade people for money. The sex is incidental. His work simply depicts his hatred towards women. He humiliates them, tries to style them as pre-pubescents, and makes them as ugly as possible -smeared lipstick, mascara running everywhere from tears etc. All of which, personally, I find revolting. More importantly though, I think his films help to bring deeply unsound attitudes into the mainstream.

To me there is a role for censors to play in porn, as unpopular as that opinion may be in this forum, and that is to prevent hate-porn from being made.

I saw an interview with Seymour Butts who had worked with some girls who had started their careers with Max Hardcore. Basically, Jim South at World Modelling would send over brand new girls to Max Hardcore without telling them the nature of the shoot. They would arrive, do the shoot and, according to Seymour Butts and what the girls told him, they felt they had basically been raped.

Now, if the girls go in with full consent and know what they are in for, I'm all for Max doing his thing. But, if what Seymour Butts said was true, then that is deeply wrong and he should be in prison.
