So Smalling, Evans, Jones, Evra, Rafael, Carrick, Cleverley, Young, Nani, Fletcher, Anderson, Wellbeck and Hernandez are all world class players who Moyes has turned into donkeys? Yeah, right.

Yes, Moyes is a shit manager, but he's also inherited a shit squad!

No one is saying that in this thread. Are they?

Obviously you are entitled to your opinion, but on looking at this thread, it is worth mentioning:

Subjective view e.g. the current United squad is a "shit" squad.

Objective view e.g. the current United squad won the 2010-11 Premier League, missed out on the 2011-12 Premier League championship by one goal and won the 2012-13 Premier League.

Nothing else for me to add. The last word is yours!

Hard to believe but not one hour ago a Man U fan told me they were brilliant against Fulham and the fact they had most of the possession was a positive sign. When I politely reminded him A) they were at home B) Fulham are the worst team in the PL and C) It was a draw he had no answer. Sad so sad.

Well it could have been worse. Man U could have lost to Fulham.

Have a look at this, Bob:

With the same team (Januzaj in, Scholes out), Moyes is playing with the exact same players SAF had last season. Above are the average heat maps of the two seasons. As you can see, Man Utd have virtually no play in the centre and little variation, which is very predictable. Ferguson, while emphasizing wing-play, did have his team play through the middle and have more variation. The midfield is running in straight lines for Christ's sake.

It is simplistic, predictable tactics that are easy to set-up against.

And, again.......why haven't Chelsea, Spurs, Man City or Liverpool considered Moyes with their frequent changing of managers?

I actually think Moyes may have been ok if he'd kept on the old coaching staff who had a record of winning and knew all the players. They could have slowly adapted tactics to new signings rather than getting all the players to play differently to what they were used to.

Think about it: you're a Man Utd player that has been told to play a certain way, year in, year out. You've won many things playing this way. You then get a new manager who tells you to play a different way. You give it a go because it's your job, but then you start losing.......and losing.....and losing. In that position would you trust this new manager? Would it inspire you?

Moyes has made some bad decisions and keeps making them. If he's going to keep his job, he's got to at least get in some decent coaches because what's the point of buying a Mata and then tell him to run in straight lines and cross the ball to two strikers who's game is about getting it to their feet?

Pointless.

Some of last year's heat will have been radiating from Fergie's nose....

I agree with you Sam, getting rid of Phelan and Meulensteen was a terrible mistake. You can perhaps cope with a manager who has never won anything so long as you have coaches who have won everything, including the CL. If Moyes prefers to work with the mediocre people he was comfortable with at Everton, who never won anything with him, the obvious conclusion might just be that...they will never win anything. Just a thought.

Mata's credited with 3 assists in his first 3 matches for Man Utd, so it can't be completely pointless.
