It would be nice if that was the case. The BBC will never be able to afford to build anything like Television Centre ever again.

There is an interesting letter from a BBC cameraman in the latest Private Eye. He makes the point that not only were the main studios in TV Centre set up for HD digital recordings, but that one was also equipped for 3D. TV Centre was, he says, one of the best and most advanced studio complexes in the world, and the official reasons for closing it were a pack of lies. As he points out, ?200 million was gained by selling the site, and ?1.8 billion spent on inferior substitutes. It's good to know that the BBC suits are spending our money so wisely.
