Some people will never be satisfied with any amount of evidence, or simply don't want to accept the evidence that's staring them in the face - either because they have an axe to grind, a book to sell, and agenda to push, or because their 'default setting' is to simply oppose the "official" line no matter what that may be (which is why there are now people who were previously claiming Bin Laden was probably dead but are now saying he's most likely still alive).

You talk about "inventing" a conspiracy, but this entire "Bin Laden is still alive" thing is pure invention.

The whole thing is based on supposition, suspicion and the vivid imaginations of a relatvely small number of conspiracy nerds who use the Internet as a platform for their insane ramblings - there's no evidence whatsoever that he's still alive, nor for that matter that he died years ago.

What evidence we do have so far all points to it having gone down more or less as reported (though granted we'll probably never know all the nitty-ritty details).

Agreed. My theory, if he was still alive, and at large (as opposed to alive and in captivity) he would have by now popped up on Al Jazeera, holding a copy of the New York Times carrying the headline of his death, saying, "Ya missed me, boys!"

If such a thing were to happen, it would bring down the entire US government, which would be exactly the sort of publicity and notoriety the islamo-nutters want.

So I reckon they must be 100% sure that such a situation could not occur.
