David, when you said farewell to this forum, surprisingly to me, you were sent a barrage of abuse, rather than a tearful send-off. I think this is because you try to bludgeon people with your arguments, which I'm afraid do contain a tone of aggression.

You are a New Labour zealot, but not all of us are. I actually hate and loathe the bastards, because they betrayed people like me who followed them for years. Many of us now think that people who seek power are by definition a bunch of cunts. You, on the other hand have a cuddly, rosy, view of New Labour politicians which enables you to forgive them anything and actually edit factual information about their deeds in your own head.

You can lambast people like me until you are blue in the face but not all of us will believe your version of the truth, just because you shout the loudest! You should have wormed your way into the PR/Media dept of the Labour Party years ago and I think you would have gone far.

It would also have paid alot better than haranguing the good folk of BGAFD and you might have even got your snout in the New Labour trough of gold!

Remind me how that fits in with my frequently stated view on this forum that I would like to see Blair on trial for war crimes in the Hague and that there was a lot the Labour government could have done far better e.g. taxing the banks, taxing the rich, closing tax avoidance loopholes, on civil rights e.g. their stupid anti-terrorist law that allowed police particularly in the City to harass photographers etc etc. In short my view is that they did some good things along with the bad and are the best of a very bad lot of political parties.

Oh I forgot, to answer all your protestations that New Labour did some good things and some bad, as far as I am concerned anything that you may believe was "Good" becomes insignificant when they were hell bent on removing our freedoms brick by brick.

It's a bit like saying Hitler wasn't all bad, after all he OK'd the Volkswagen to be built for the people. Or Pol Pot might have murdered millions, but he used to do a great rendition of, "My way". Or Mussolini made the trains run on time and so on.
