Warren,

it's a discussion forum and it's being discussed. It's not a case of kicking someone when they're down but pointing out a massive error of judgement and making my feelings known.

I don't know where you get the jealously aspect from (I'm obviously not a doctor, I couldn't afford the pay cut) because I've explained very clearly that my focus on that angle is related to the media reporting in the first instance.

Manners don't come into it at all. I have no sympathy for them or their suicidal grief. Any suicidal grief they have is guilt but as I've yet to see an actual suicide I'll put that down to something you've made up to try and tug at my heart.

People are accountable for their actions whatever they do and these people are no exception. News travels fast and people make judgements on the information avaliable to them. This is the nature of the modern internet discussion forum and it's something you need to accept or consider withdrawing from.

Well said Kinetic-in my last post to Shopgirl I felt somewhat bad for what I'd said about the parents but as you point out,it is a discussion forum where people have a right to express their views without being bullied and personally attacked. The parents did make a serious error of judgement and whilst they never intended for this tragic outcome,an error it certainly was.Obviously a happy ending is wished for, for all conerned ie the child and of course her family.

Although many of us have thoughts on who is to blame and what punishments should await them, who is responsible, who is the criminal, the parent or the person who abducted Madeleine. I acknowledge the use of a forum for discussion, but had only suggested that perhaps we discussed the blaming of what happened after Madeleine had been found and we had more facts to discuss.

As a parent I just felt that kicking someone whilst they are down, further down than anyone can even begin to imagine, is just plain cruel. I am not supporting what the parents have done. We have not been given the full facts, one report says they checked every half hour, I have read one report that the father checked at 9pm and the mother at 10pm, so we do not know who is truly correct and until we know more I think we should be praying for the safe return of their daughter and leave the witch hunt alone!!

Sorry if you feel you need to crucify a family's action whilst they are going through hell.

Just my opinion for what it is worth!

Shopgirl,

Whist it's no doubt true that the parents are going through hell at this time,Madeline,if she's still alive, is probably going through hell that none of us can imagine too.
As Alice points out, this sorry story is in the public arena and this is a forum for debate and such a tragic situation will be debated.
From such debates, I would hope that sorry situations like this are less likely to occur as parents/carers will be reminded of the potential risks they are taking when they choose to leave children unattended especially when those children are left unattended in unfamiliar surroundings throughout the night. I don't consider leaving children in a locked room and visiting them every half an hour or so to be adequate-the children should have had a babysitter who was with them 100% of the time.As I said earlier, if people debating this will prevent other parents from acting so negligently, then countless other children could probably escape the same fate that this child has sadly experienced.
