Racsim, of course, goes all ways. But obviously minorities suffer it a lot more than majorities (do the maths).

I'm not supporting the language used by rd213...but 'dumped on us'. After the Empire went to other lands, declared their societies to be backward or uncivilised- in Nigeria? India?- stole their resources, used and abused their people and introduced racism.

These folk just wanted to come to the 'Mother Country' and be treated properly. That's all . Maybe they will get that one day.

BTW- not blaming you for your views. History has traditionally been taught from a 'Whig' stance of 'Empire good/ foreigners backward'. This is what is to blame, not you.

Cynical

And now sponsor Carphone Warehouse is getting into the act by suspending its deal with the programme, thus ensuring free advertising on news bulletins and in newspapers.

As Del Boy might say, "Sorted!"

For my sins I have to admit to watching the "highlights" most nights.

Is the bullying of Shilpa racist? Difficult to tell. It's certainly bullying of an attractive and intelligent woman, who happens to be Indian, by the British equivalent of "trailer trash". If Shilpa were pure-bred white English she would probably endure the same treatment, though her colour and nationality do play a part in the bullying... on Tuesday Danielle was heard to say "I wish she'd fuck off home" in the same spiteful/vengeful way you hear BNP members talk of "sending home" all "immigrants".

Danielle was later asked about the comment by BB in the diary room and she looked shocked, and while she pretended she didn't mean any harm by it, it seemed to me to be more shock at her being rumbled and the damage it could do to her career rather than any genuine remorse at having said such a thing.

The biggest problem as I see it is one of a mix up in communication. In the house are Indian and American people who speak better English than many of the British housemates. Jade Goody is too thick to understand what most people say to her and perceives slight in anything said to her by anyone more intelligent than her. Allied to an inability to control her emotions or properly articulate her thoughts she descends into deep rages over nothing.

I truly hope this series of CBB is the last time we see this monster on our screens, but I fear the red-tops and gutter weeklies (Take a Break, Heat, Pick Me Up, Closer, Hello, etc) will keep propping her up.

Jade Goody, Danielle Lloyd and Jo O'Meara should be ashamed of themselves. When this whole fiasco is over, I think their careers will hit the skids!
As for Luke Johnson, Mr Channel 4's pappy show himself..
I suppose he didn't want to comment because he too is a racist himself.
I suppose if I was to see him walking down the street, I would definately see the word 'racist' written over his forehead!!tut!
