And another case

Post by Pervert »

The tabloids, in both cases.

Also claims that the killers had been under police surveillance some weeks before the murder.

Here's another case with racial (and homophobic) overtones:

Skin pigmentation is a fucking stupid reason to hate someone.
All four defendants, who have previous convictions, face deportation after their sentences have been served.
I should think that's obvious. In fact, why are the general public paying for their jail terms? They should be jailed in the place they migrated from and made to do their sentences there, and then banned from entering the UK upon release.

I spend a few month a year in the US. If I tortured US citizens then I'd expect to be banned from entering that country again! No doubt some idiot will fight their cases to be deemed fit to reside in the UK upon their release.

I would suggest that the reason for an apparent lack of mainstream interest is not reverse racism, but rather that since devolution, Scotland has pretty well dropped of the Fleet street radar.

Pereceptions

Post by Pervert »

It wasn't particularly prominent pre-devolution. You would get bits in national newspapers, or the main national TV news, about three people being killed in an accident, for example---"John Smith, from 12 Wingate Drive, Snellfeld, Aldershot; Mary Jones, from St Mary Dell, near Dorchester, Dorset; and Ian McDonald of Scotland."

And you still get clowns who think because someone is Scottish they will know everyone else from Scotland----that dickhead John Challis tried to take the piss with James McAvoy on the Paul O'Grady Show last week, but McAvoy turned it on its head and ripped the pish out of him.

There just seems to be a perception that Scotland (and Northern Ireland) aren't quite as relevant to the English and Welsh. Not saying that's what the English and Welsh feel, just the media. So when no mention was made here of the Donald case, I just assumed it hadn't made the national press.

"I meant that politically aware and / or politically active university students (probably a sizeable minority of said students) tend to be far more radicalised in their views while at college than they are afterwards."

Again - big wow.

Some young people hold fairly radical political views - both left and right, as people get older their political views tend to get less radical.

I also understand that the pope is a catholic.

"This is a classic example of what I was talking about ? a poor prole, like my good self, forgets his place and offers an opinion that challenges middleclass PC orthodoxy, and all he get for his trouble is a condescending barage of contempt and scorn."

Nope - you make yet another in your seemingly unending series of dreary diatribes against a group of people who you perceive to be different from you - and who are, therefore, bad people.

You treating groups of other people with scorn and contempt is some sort of noble cause? Strange that you should get so defensive when people point out that its all a load of unthinking, prejudiced bilge.

"Are you of the opinion that common folk should be seen and not heard?"

woop woop - straw man warning. Nope, I'm of the opinion that your post was garbage. Its all about you and your posts - not whichever group you claim to represent.

"As for my ?prejudices?, you misjudge me, Sir. I have none (to speak of)"

Well, apart from middle class people and your truly bizarre obsession with "chavs".

"If I turn my nose up at any individual or group it is because they are, in many instances, crap"

Ahh yes, this is going to take some time. Your irrational, unthinking dislike of large, diverse groups of people is, in fact, prejudice.

Spook again: Another poster who seems to get off by simply slagging off other people's posts (clever, eh?! Give the man a cigar!) while contributing nothing whatsoever to the discussion.

Disagree by all means, take the piss if you must while doing so. But you seem to have nothing at all to say on the subject. Do you actually have an opinion on the subject of this thread, or are you just here to flame?

Oh dear, it looks like we?re now going round in circles. This rebuttal is neither clever nor amusing (unlike my groovy posts) in fact it?s crap. You?re pretty much repeating what you said in your previous post - though in a markedly less clear and concise fashion. ?Opaque? and ?waffle? are a couple of words that spring to mind.

Look, if you want to be a proper, arrogant, condescending middleclass person, capable of putting down a poor humble prole (like Officer Dibbs) you've got to get your act together. This tosh is just not good enough and won?t pass muster with your Guardian reading peers.

Anyhow, I?ll deal with some of the clearer points I managed to salvage from your petulant, befuddled, ramblings.

?you make yet another in your seemingly unending series of dreary diatribes?

Sir, if you please, my diatribes are not dreary. They are fair chock-a-block with sparking wit, colorful invective, and dazzling insight. I have a keen fanbase of readers who, on occasion, are kind enough to voice their appreciation of my musings. Can you say the same?

?against a group of people who you perceive to be different from you - and who are, therefore, bad people.?

Whoa! Steady on, spook. Go easy on the hyperbole. How did you make the leap from me perceiving others to be different and ?therefore bad people?? Everyone?s different to me, to some degree or other. Are you therefore suggesting that I believe everyone, apart from myself, to be bad?...Hmmm, that?s strange, I don?t ever recall expounding such a hypothesis.

?You treating groups of other people with scorn and contempt is some sort of noble cause??

Not noble. Certainly not noble. Amusing, cruel, tragic, maybe. We all know it?s fun to laugh at other people and their stupidity or misfortune. After all, that?s what most comedy is based on. Shardenfreude. It?s a cruel intoxicating pleasure that?s instantly addictive. We only need get a whiff of it and we?re immediately consumed by an intense guilt-soaked desire for more. But that?s the tragedy of the human condition. We are what we are ? it?s futile to pretend otherwise.

?Strange that you should get so defensive when people point out that its all a load of unthinking, prejudiced bilge.?

?Strange?? What an odd thing to say. I?m sure everyone would agree that there?s nothing strange about a chap getting defensive when some bounder has the temerity to slag him and his good work off. The only strange thing is that you should make such a statement.

?Its all about you and your posts - not whichever group you claim to represent.?

I don?t believe I?ve ever claimed to be sole representative of any particular group. However, I do speak for many (probably the majority) of ordinary, respectable, working people when I voice concern about Asylum seekers, chavs, scumbags, third world migrants and the like. I also voice ordinary folks growing concerns about Guardian readers, social workers and bureaucrats. Working folk are gradually waking up to the fact that they are being shafted by arrogant, muesli-munching, PC-crazed, nutters, in both local and national government. It?s becoming clear to the respectable working classes that if you?re not an asylum-seeking, black, gay, gender neutral, one-eyed sociopath with eighteen kids to support then, as far as Guardian readers are concerned, you?re Nowheresville. I?ll tell you what though; ordinary folk aren?t going to stand for your middleclass Guardian reading shite forever. They?re beginning to feel aggrieved.

As for your general ramblings about ?prejudice? (that?s a buzzword with those of your ilk, isn?t it?) I dealt with that clearly and concisely in my last post. I?m not going over it again. But it is fascinating that you don?t seem to have taken it on board or engaged with it in any meaningful way. I once saw a documentary about how easily the Moonies and all sorts of other nutty sects (like the Labour Party, maybe?) found it very easy to recruit naive young middleclass people and program them with their divi doctrines. It seems the minds of young middleclass folk are like sponges, ready to soak up all sorts of idiotic ideas, ?isms? and beliefs. That?s why these loony organizations target them on university campuses. Once the naive students have singed up, the shrewd folks running these organizations get the males to hand over all their wedge (and inheritance) for the greater glory of the relevant god or party, and they then get the silly earnest middleclass birds to drop their knickers for the horny geezers on the Executive Policy Committee! Wheyhey! What a groovy plan! I think I?ll start one of these loony left parties (?The Dibble Popular Front? has a ring to it). I?ll get that Sunseeker yacht in Monte Carlo yet!
