A certain person from BGAFD forum emailed my friend's webmaster about him not owning his videos/photos and nearly got his site closed.

This was the email sent by the host:

'Dear webmaster,

due to documented complain we are forced to do not host site cateharrington.com anymore.

Nothing on this domain is licenced and with no permission of a copyright owner.

Please, remove this site within 24 hours.

PLEASE NOTE THIS WAS SENT LUNCHTIME TODAY (SUNDAY) AND THE HOSTING COMPANY DID NOT ASK FOR PROOF OF OWNERSHIP BUT JUST TOLD MY FRIEND TO TAKE THE SITE DOWN.

My friend quickly provided today proof of ownership, in legal documents, signed by the model involved.

MY gripe is not with the forum poster on here or even with this forum itself but the fact that my friend's website host (my former host) took the word of a non industry individual and this forum posting as evidence of non ownership/copyright of content.

This host has not apologised and has stated that he would take the site down based on any future forum postings.

The hosts' response to me defending my colleague:

'Matthew,

we must react like that due the law. If you sent (and XXX sent it) the documents as requested, then everything is Ok and as it should be!

I?am sorry, but we are often pressed by public and in some cases also by local police department and we must act quickly, often even if it?s by anonymous source or so.

We?ll keep your documents if anything.

my view, as a punter and wanting to spend some money, is that the cateharrington.com site shows what's wrong with the UK porn industry and it's lack of investment in decent recording equipment

the videos look grainy, so as a punter, what am I paying for here? grainy home-made footage, or a professionally shot video? it looks to me like I'm getting the former, which is poor considering that there's HD recording equipment and in this day and age of broadband, I think that the difference between the UK and US/Euro porn industry is visible - most UK sites seem to have either SD video, or CLIPS!! Clips for God's sake in 2011 - what the hell is that about?? Clipped footage may have been the norm back in 2000, but 11 years later and I'm currently sitting here on a 50MB broadband package. Where am I, as a paying customer, planning to spend my money?? With a company that's offering me A) high quality video, and B) reasonable value for money

Now... cateharrington.com to me as a punter seems as though it's basically someone cashing in on a few home-made videos of Cate. Sorry, but that does put me off the idea of parting with money, and I'm sure it's probably a Catch-22 situation where you need the investment to come in, in order to spend the money, but the rules I use in business is you have to spend money to make money. You're either offering tosh, and therefore getting minimal/no interest from the paying public because it doesn't look worthy of paying for, or you've got a professional image which people may consider paying to be a part of!

Sorry le bull, but the site itself looks to me personally like a serious case of someone trying to get as much money as possible out of a couple of amateur styled videos of someone who has worked with some very good quality companies like Bluebird and Viv Thomas. I know people on here (myself included) knock Bluebird but their investment is almost second to none, and pretty much says to me that if I want to see a decent Cate Harrington video, I need to buy it from them to get something worth watching on a hi-def screen
