They had the lock down in the US last year, so why can't that be done here.
The only difference here is that less people won't be working for that time.
Judging by the comments so far it does seem to be necessary. Quite a few people in the biz I'm sure have been talking to each other, and so those infected and all their other lifestyle details are becoming known. I also think that many models now know who to avoid for a while, so it won't be too much of a hardship.

You and I used to argue very badly but I have to give a big up to you for the recent productions of yours and your comments in this thread.
Because the industry in the UK is tiny compared to the US, I think that this std situation will find it's governing itself. Models aren't 1000's of miles apart as over the pond, they are few hundred max. With our industry being so much smaller word gets round very quickly of who is and has been infected and also about if they work with amateurs etc. as has been menioned above.
It wasn't that long ago there was the discussion here about the bukkake parties.. Has it got worse since then, considering some of the comments made in this thread suggesting that now some models are doing other "Parties" instead of those ? As for the comments on models doing escorting and I know that this is a very delicate subject on the BGAFD, I feel sure that those who do that will, only if protection is used. I feel it's the "Parties" that are now the problem.
How this small epidemic started is past. Who was the first to to pass it on has happened, so now it's time to find the solution.

"And no surprise that any institution that attempts 'solidarity' in this industry will also be fucked out of existence."
hello rob , i know weve not met , merely seperated by a common distributor, but i share many of your thoughts as posted here....i just thought i'd like to say to you and our other contemps.....that i would be rather keen on setting up some sort of informal monthly get to gether for producers.
it would be a perfect way of comparing notes and perhaps laying down a few ground rules of conduct and acceptability....
....who knows?...perhaps we wouldnt all get fucked out of existence!
how say y'all?

Gee and Rob...
There are 12 of us there as all have to be aproved, so no models or others can join. One or two good comments have been made so far. It may not be busy but it's what we needed. Go and sign up

Re: A big problem in the adult indsutry at the moment
At the end of the day this epidemic COULD have been HIV. I think the log book idea is great but i also think that producers need to be discussing the performers in the industry and blacklisting high risk cases. Rumours are rumours but when you hear things from several different people then it makes you sit up and take notice. Theres no smoke without fire.
As for busy performers getting tested more often, i think thats a great idea. Its the cost that has previously stopped me from doing this but i think im going to be getting done every fortnight now regardless.

Frequency of testing...
When the 30day rule was introduced it became necessary to test every 3 weeks JUST to keep certs within the 30 day period... the logistics of me getting to London every 3 weeks (that and the lack of bookings and my subsequent knee injury following the Marathon) was the main reason I found myself "forcibly" retired fromt he industry... it wasn't because I was against the frequency of testing - it was simply that the logistics and associated costs made it totally and utterly impractical.
I don't personalyl see that 2 week testing is going to make YOU (Tequilla) any better "protected" - it's the others that you will be protecting. Which is a good thing and it's admirable, but it isn't, in itself, a necessary step.

I retired when I sadly realised nobody wanted me!

Re: A big problem in the adult indsutry at the moment
I rememeber when I got my first std years ago (NSU) and felt that cold sweat, fear and panic set in. I imagine this is what some are feeling right now. I want to try and put some peoples mind at ease that this is an inconvenience that could have been avoided on several fronts. Its done now so how are we to deal with this in the future?
BAIHA (British Adult Industry Health Awareness) was set up about 18 months ago and performers, producers and reps from the Medi Centre turned up in the hope we could avoid something like the Darren James incident in the US from happening here. It was more poignant that that incident happened at the same time actually. and not as a direct result of the panic that set in around it.
I'm not a religious person when I say this but thank Christ this is not an HIV outbreak. Everyone sit up and listen: This is a warning sign and simple methods can be employed to limit this kind of thing happening in the future.
I have my suspicions like everyone else has but unless you have proof as to where it really started from, it all comes down to scape goating. This is not a solution and part of the problem as it never achieves anything since everyone is cryptic and never names anyone for obvious reasons.
Maybe a concerted effort should be made to keep everyones test on a central file (agencies should already do this but some don't. The same agencies who didnt turn up at the BAIHA meeting at Sadlers Wells may I add). Its not the solution but it is a simple step. I've noticed too that performers don't even question photocopies. This would never happen in Europe which I'm surprised is being scape goated here also. Having worked out there, their professional standards in health, performing and attitude to work is unparalleled when compared to this country.
Sorry, it sounds like I'm writing an essay. I've just got a lot of things to say with regard to this subject having been around some 8 years already.
This business is becoming more and more transient with the parties, new producers, amateurs etc as this business becomes more and more acceptable, more girls and guys are getting into it. Lets not forget the danger of the few reliable performers sticking their dicks in multiple girls for the week also. Its just as quick a way to spread something too.
Its an unfortunate set of circumstances people. lets deal with it responsibly.
