I agree Mr Spider, I too will sleep easy. Might be a good idea to make a suit out of tin foil and keep it in the shed just in case! All the same, I am told that we are susceptible to a North Sea storm surge, which could overwhelm the Thames Barrier as is shown in the film The Flood:
oh and by the way:
Disastrous quake hits Japan!

Re: Disastrous quake/ reactor explosion
I started to watch Sky News as well until i noticed that the only scientist commenting on the Japanese nuclear emergency, represents the nuclear industry. Naturally, he keeps asserting that everything is just peachy and no one will ever, ever be in danger!
The icy, controlling, fingers of Murdoch, creep into every aspect of Sky TV's reporting I fear and the Nuclear Industry is worth $Trillions, so I fear it's a case of, "let's not alarm the plebs!"
Their reporting of the Libyan uprising is also only reporting the governments point of view.
I think I'll stick to the BBC News.

Yes, what is it with blokes that either dig (Time team) or study the Earth and beards and long hair?

Re: Before and after pictures
Some of those pics are a bit misleading. I mean, the latest pics are pre-spring while the 'before' pics look as though they were taken in the full bloom of summer.
Not questioning the devastation but Earthquakes don't change the colour of the foliage across 2000ft mountain slopes!

He's got a point I suppose. Some ARE a bit Google-Earth-like, but the others are quite striking.
