Jamesw,
Were the markings in any recognisable language or wasn't he that close?

The hull was silver or grey and there was clearly a black stripe down the middle.

He saw some other markings on the hull and perhaps was close enough to have just made them out, but the speed at which the thing was moving made it impossible to do so.

If he was just slightly closer or if the thing hadn't been moving so fast he undoubtedly would have seen whether the markings were in a recognisable language or not, but frustratingly he couldn't quite make them out.

The only thing he could be certain about was the black stripe and that there were definitely other markings of some kind.

Must agree with Catelover. Hallucinations, hoaxes, hysteria and misidentification of otherwise identified flying objects.
However this ?belief?is an example of human behaviour which is interesting..in the same way that belief makes man capable of great cruelty and great kindness.

Contrary to popular belief, ostriches do not stick their heads in the sand.

Humans, on the other hand, are a different matter.

"Hallucinations,hoaxes,hysteria and misidentification"?

Former USAF and US Army Generals and Colonels have stated publicly that they have personally supervised the recovery of craft not from this planet and their occupants, both dead and alive.

If it were just one or two high-ranking men, then doubt would remain, of course.

When there are dozens, then it is a different matter.

Having researched this for over twenty years, I am completely satisfied that some UFOs are solid, intelligently controlled craft that were not made by contemporary human beings on this planet.

As to who made them, where they were made, when they were (or will be) made and who controls them, I have no idea.

I've seen a UFO. It was in the Lake District 3 years ago. It seemed to be cylindrical in shape, moved very quickly across the sky then hovered for 5/6 seconds before shooting up vertically and out of sight.

Do I believe it was full of little green men from Mars? NO!!!

But it was a UFO in so far as it was a flying object that neither I nor the dozen or so people with me could identify. Included in the group I was with was an airline pilot (a former Concorde pilot with BA) who in his time piloting jet airliners has seen many weird things in the sky that he couldn't explain.

I know the RAF use the area for training flights, but Tornados and EuroFighters don't fly in the way this thing did, and anyway, they have wings and this object definitely didn't.

To this day I have no idea what it was I saw other than a UFO in the ultimate and definitive meaning of the phrase.
