Unfortunately the police believed the gunshot evidence, which was later shown to be worthless.

George didn't have to prove his innocence to anyone.
Its up to the prosecution to prove his guilt - the presumption is that one is innocent until proven guilty.

Colonel,
Extreme attempts were made to fit up Mr George for the murder of a VIP the truth is probably that Ms Dando was a spy as are many people working in the BBC.
Mr George was portrayed as an unstable "nutter" when in reality he is just a harmless loner without an alibi or the ability to defend himself, in fact, the perfect fall guy.
He was lucky that he had an intelligent jury. Now he should get massive compensation and there should be a public inquiry into his case.
Mike Freeman.

Well it was obvious the police fitted him up from day 1.

Your argument rather collapses when you refer to Miss Dando as a spy, Mike...the only dodgy thing about her is that she was mates with Cliff Richard...

Emotions understandably high at Television Centre, but I was sure the main news called George an 'oddball'.
I was wrong, they called it him twice.
Something to think about..
