I did indeed, as you said 'obviously a tory'. I wouldn't endorse any political party, I'm not that one-dimensional or silly.

"So it's alright for the Tories to do what they want because its noy hypocritical and is expected of them?"

I never said it was all right, merely unsurprising. Please don't misrepresent me.

"The days of Family Values"

Family values are another issue altogether - if you?d care to start a thread on the hypocrisy of old-fashioned Conservative family values you might find I'm in agreement with you.

"shagging secretaries"

Nothing wrong with shagging secretaries. It's every boss?s duty.

"The Highway Code breaking cyclist"

Is that all you?ve got - that Green Dave broke the Highway Code? Oh, for pity sake, this is getting very silly.

But I didn't affix 'sycophant' -or anything- to Tory.

You mention stupidity and '6th form debates', but affix derogatory mannerisms to a political leaning (one over the other).

Why?

Guilty as charged Samuel. However, I feel the word 'syncophant' was affixed with good reason as this thread seems to be all about over-looking the failings of the Labour party as if one naughty tory makes years of labour sleaze ok, which certainly indicates a level of syncophancy to me.
Now, if we were to start an intelligent discussion about the falings of all sides then we might get somewhere!

I think if you look back over two years, you'll find more anti-Labour threads than anti-Tory. This, I'll admit, is due to Labour calling the shots over the last 11 years and that the Tories have been a political laughing stock over that time. They've been unimportant bystanders.

My guess is that because of their unimportance, they've been pulling the same stunts as Labour for years. The media are now taking notice because it looks like they may get in power next time around. With the boost in popularity there comes extra media coverage and higher expectations. Because of this, we'll soon find that their policies and behaviour haven't changed one bit since they were ousted in 97.

I'm not a labour voter btw.

I am totally uninspired by any politician in this country today.I despair how arrogant and dishonest they seem to be.How they are witheringly contemptuous of the electorate,I delight when one is caught out and made to squirm.Power to Private Eye and their ilk.

I think you'll find that it was members / fans of the whoops-a-daisy gang who started the snout in trough threads but obviously appreciate how it must upset when the boot is on the other foot.

Dibbs will rant about the hypocrisy but as far as I am aware it was Green Dave who said he would put an end to the shenanigans and the appointment of the bloke caught with his pants down by Green Dave was to do this.

I wouldn't worry to much I suspect Green Dave and other members of the Whoops- a- daisy gang at Tory central will have been going through everything they can to find fault with a member from Labour in an attempt to deflect such bad publicity, will find it and get back to the Punch and Judy politics he soooooooo much wanted to end.

If you want an intelligent discussion on failings heres the link:

Where should we start?

Dibble,

When I said:
""The Highway Code breaking cyclist"

You came back with:
"Is that all you?ve got - that Green Dave broke the Highway Code? Oh, for pity sake, this is getting very silly."

What you fail to grasp is that when the Tories return to power they will make laws and bring in regulations which they will expect EVERYONE (except those in the party to whom they will turn a blind eye as long as possible) to obey.

Why the hell should they expect obediance to the law when their own leader couldn't care less if he breaks the law. It isn't a case of the importance of the offence, it's a case of right and wrong. But then the Tories have always had the attitude of "it's OK for us, but not for you"

You also said:

"Family values are another issue altogether - if you?d care to start a thread on the hypocrisy of old-fashioned Conservative family values you might find I'm in agreement with you."

Pleased to hear it but I hope your agreement is not based on the premise that the Family Values debacle was one of the main reasons the Tories lost power. I'd rather you agreed it was a piece of two faced, don't do what I do, do as I say piece of arraogance designed to capture the hearts and minds of the editors and readers of the Tory press.
