I'm not sure. I know in England, once you're off you cannot reappear, but in Europe it may be different.
I know in the last World Cup, Portugal had about 3 players sent off in one game, yet they sat at the entrance to the tunnel, watching the game; it seems like the rules change depending on the competition.
