I believe the gun situation should be treated in one of two ways:

1: If there are to be any guns available, then every mature adult should be allowed one, but with strict checks on the eligibility of the person first. You know, you can't have a system like ours where only the criminals have them and the victims are left defenceless.

2: There should be a blanket ban on all firearms and a proper deterrent put in place to stop the villains wanting guns. I'd say a life (ie life meaning life) sentence with hard labour for anyone caught in possession of a gun of any kind, and the death sentence for anyone who murders someone with any weapon.

You hit the main cause there, corruption and moral decay. When I've said I'm anti-Capitalist in the past people have automatically presumed I'm Communist! lol How narrow minded can You get?! If all truth be told, both Capitalism and Communism have the benefits, but are ultimately corrupted by human greed. As a result I don't believe in the workability of either. It's materialism and religion that are the causes for most of the troubles in the world, everything from the murders in question, right up to Gulf War 2 and even Global Warming. As a result, I find both subjects really quite sickening (materialism) and annoying (religion).

Speaking of religion, is there something wrong with my picture, or are Americans one moment talking about God as if he were their best buddy, then the next moment walking all over each other for a profit and gunning each other down in the streets? I wonder if Wall Street "Greed is Good" traders go to church on a regular basis? Do they pray? If so I figure they need to pray bloody hard for forgiveness for their sins! No wonder most of 'em haven't been struck down by lightning by now, that is if their idea of religion is true, which I very much doubt.

We English, on the other hand, are not so hypocritical as to, on one hand, pretend we are holier than thou by praying to an archaic belief in what God is, then start playing the great greedy materialist the next moment. Here the church is dying on its feet, because the English don't pretend to be something we're not.

Not just America,it happens everywhere,just you hear less about it,because America makes the news.
It's not gun laws as such,Britain had tight gunlaws,but still has gun killings daily,but of course mentality,world mentality as it is fast becoming.
Seems everywhere you go the TV is full of violence,nasty violence,Sex sells,violence must be a close second..just sex doesn't kill,but is often more heavily censored than violence!
Take note though,this boy was Korean,they're famous for dramatic acts.MPs fighting in parliament,protesters killing themselves at economic summits,anti-Jap protestors cutting off fingers...and now of course this.
Not in favour of easy guns,but act now and only the criminals will be left with them,like in Britain.Had one of those dead students had a gun then perhaps this massacre would have been smaller.
Pray for the victims,that's all that's left to do,leave the blame finding to God.
