I can go one better... of the three Clash gigs I went to, I was the booking agent for the first (which also meant finding various "supplies" to satisfy their rider !wink! ).

"The Communards, in '88 when Jimmy Sommerville came on stage and we realised that his forehead was actually real? just amazing how one man can actually hold a head like that on his shoulders."

You actually saw The Communards? Live? In the flesh? For real? Wow! Jesus....

Surely you didn't actually witness the rock leviathan that was the mighty Bronski Beat in concert too?

What about Billy Bragg?

Stevie Wonder - 1981. He turned up 2 hours late and tried this lame excuse on that he'd got lost on the way ( yes, he's blind! As if ) At first the audience were seriously pissed off. He seemed to sense this, cut the jokes and played his arse off for about 4 hours to win us back. By the end of the night ( about 3:00 am by this stage ) he'd won us over totally forever. I'll never forget that concert.

Unfortunately, Diamond Dave says this in every town he plays in, still, it 'does' the trick!!
The reviews of those shows in 1979 ALL state VH blew Sabbath away every night.
Nice one Mark!

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Same old bullshit. The UK press absolutely hated Sabbath and would slag them at every opportunity, the US reviews were a different story entirely for that tour. It's just cunty English media wankers stirring the shit as ever.

The two bands were and still are mates and Eddie VH was regularly jamming in the studio with Iommi well into the nineties and cites Sabbath as his biggest influence to this day. But...that's not as good a story is it?

Alex Van Halen used to sit next to Bill Ward's roadie behind Bill's riser on that tour to watch Big Bad Billy at work and I've got shots of both bands looning it up together. There was no big rift or "Blowing eachother away", it's just bollocks. The usual mean-spirited crap the English media does so well.

Anybody old enough to see Hendrix live?

Just purchased 'Experience Hendrix' and listening to him now. I mean.....would have loved to watch him live.

It was actually a special concert, a benefit gig for people with unusually large foreheads, the only other act was the guy from the Tefal adverts, and it was hosted by MMMMM ax Headroom, remember him?

Billy Bragg is a cunt of the highest order A "Cotho" he's always on the front of our local paper (as he's from Barking "the streets" so he feels the kids pain) doing his bit, being right on, sitting on the pavement with his ethically made accoustic guitar put together by hand from Tibetan (used) matchsticks, singing to the tramps as they are the only ones who can handle his drowning cat like warbling, he can't sing, and basically just sucks, you get pictures of him pretending to clean up graffiti and shit, and smiling like a labotomised Llama, the dictionary definition of a Cotho if there ever was one.
