I would hope that a white poppie seller would show respect and not approach exservice men, of course they may not know that they are exservice but would probably get some funny replies, and i wasnt stating violence just that they would be told where to go, just outside Maidstone is the British Legion Village i dont know how it is now but years ago they found work for disabled ex servicemen who others wouldnt employ and gave them some dignity, by purchasing a red poppie you are making a contribution towards it im not sure where the proceeds of the white poppie goes.

Of course I would prefer universal peace, love, and understanding. But, reality and people being what they are, we can discount that coming to pass anytime soon. You know, wearing a white poppy will not stop anyone from wanting to steal from you, subjugate you or kill you. I think this is a perfect example of how middleclass 'peaceniks' and the like are totally divorced from reality.

Hard to argue with?

A group students in Nazi Germany, calling themselves the White Rose, secretly distributed anti-Nazi leaflets in 1942 and 1943. When they were finally caught, the Nazis didn't let them sit in jail to write inspiring letters. Only four days after their arrest, the three students at the core of the White Rose movement were put on trial. After a trial that lasted only four hours, they were convicted and sentenced to death. All three were beheaded later that afternoon. Another student, who evaded arrest for a short time, was also tried, convicted, and executed just as swiftly, while others who played less important roles in the organization were sent off to forced labour camps.

It is sheer delusion to think that nonviolence and pacifism will bring down states like Nazi Germany.

Guns don't kill people - people kill people and whilst were at it remember the Cold War amd its mutually Assured Destruction? So you see an arms trade does not necessarily lead to conflict.

For a weapon to kill someone it has to have some form of human interaction. People kill people.

Of course the arms race raises international tension - remember the cold war? The cuban missile crisis? But fuck all actually happend because total annihilation wasn't an option for either side.

I was referring to the atom bombs you mentioned in an earlier post and I'll give you that one as I didn't make it clear.
