Flat_Eric has got it right, if anyone has taken the time to read all the post on this thread including mine they will realise its about the taxation and not global warming itself, when Tony Blair puts his full weight behind anything and backs it to the hilt you then know that shite is involved.

Maybe that was the point he was trying to make, Flat_Eric... but that's not what he *actually* said in his first post, which is the one I commented on.
Planet Erotica is too thick to make his point cogently, and when this is pointed out to him, he then descends to abuse!
As I said... it's frightening to think that people like him are allowed to vote!

Re: Global Warming Is Crap
I'm curious as to why suddenly in the past week its said that there is no longer ANY doubt that global warming is a scientific fact. The idea that no credible climate scientist disputes it seems a bit too 'Walt Disney' to me.
I still have some old newspaper articles from 1976 claiming that by 2000 there would be food riots in Europe and USA because the coming ice age would have frozen most farming areas out.
It might be worth keeping a few articles on the inevitable climate disaster about to befall us so that in 20 years, when the next doomsday senario is rolled out, you can have a look back.

Come on guys...........
To be fair, you only mentioned taxation in your second post, but Bob was rude I must admit. He seems to attack a persons identity rather than their ideas quite a lot but I wouldn't resort to abusing the guy.
Well done on the naked cycling events though !thumbsup!

Yep - you have newspaper reports which ludicrously misrepresent one academic paper which predicted an ice-age in the next 20,000 years with the proviso that the affects of fossil-fuel burning were not factored into the model.
What nobody has are numerous papers by the worldwide scientific community in the 1970s predicting an imminent ice age.
What we have now is a general consensus in the scientific community that global warming is a fact and that a significant cause of this warming is the burning of fossil fuels etc.
Now maybe the mainstream scientific community have been compelled by government to come up with the fake idea of global warming over the past 10 years just so that governments can now talk about green taxes - its all one big conspiracy. Have to say that I'm not entirely persuaded by this argument.

Sam, i did mention tax revenue in my first post but never mind here is another theory to chew over, part of this green tax ammounts to an extra tax on all passenger flights, now at a guess i would say that 50% of air passengers are also drivers so when they are flying they are not driving and congesting the roads causing more pollution, most of the cheap flights are taken by people going on short breaks or holidays ie; for 3-7-10 or 14 days and when they get to their destinations most just wish to laze on a beach or by the pool or in the bar they certainly have no wish to drive, therefore if you push the cost of these cheap flights out of reach of lots of people they will stay at home and take their car out everyday causing even more pollution, maybe cheap flights are not a bad thing?

Nobody has mentioned the fact that ExxonMobil has been funding a large number of groups who attempt to rubbish the global warning hypothesis.
