At least it gave me a laugh whilst struggling with my tax return !

I have no problems with genuine mistakes (Wink Wink may even have been joking). My grief is normally with those who either use history in a poorly thought, shoddy or simply wrong way to try and back up arguments not strong enough to stand independently.

And there are those who always chip in from the sidelines with a phrase or a word (often a piece of vox pop latin) that is supposed to have intellectual gravitas behind it, without really knowing much about the subject to hand. My professional experience of those is borne out by Pope's universal tenet on learning. But then it's much easier for me as I've spent years with it.

And if Wink Wink meant it then he is not alone in getting a name wrong : I once told some visiting American students (whilst totally pissed) that Queen Victoria never truly recovered from losing her beloved husband.........Arnold.

I assumed Wink WInk was joking; I just feared the fireworks and wrath that his joke might have provoked :-)
