The golden years of Scottish players are certainly long gone. Maybe the hunger is no longer there.
God, I'm depressed
(Oh, add to Ace's list Charlie Cooke, Alan Gilzean, Billy Bremner, Peter Lorimer, Eddie Gray, Bobby Moncour, Andy Gray and Alex Ferguson's first buy when he became manager of Man Utd---erm, Ralph Milne!).

I've met the man on the street............and he's a cunt
The story I heard about how he got signed was he was working as a road sweeper for the council and living in Milton - A pretty rough are of Glasgow.
On his way to the bookies one afternoon a mate stopped him in the street and asked if he could play for his team cos they were a man short. There was a scout at them game to see someone else - Frank played a blinder and got signed on the spot.
The main reason why Derby won the league in the 70s
To say the Scots in 1978 had potential would have been the understatement of the century
Scotland 3 Holland 2...probably their best win considering the Dutch Team
Still find it hard to belive they've never made it to the 2nd round in a World Cup
I put the lack of Scottish talent coming through simply down to not enough money being invested by the Scottish FA(the clubs aren't going to do it) and to many foreigners being used for short term success!!
Are there any Scots still playing in the starting lineup for Rangers & Celtic?
They seem to have more continental players than locals when you watch the matches and hear the names called
"ANYONE can look good is Scotland, (look at Gazza on the decline) Thats why Larssen won't move as in England he'd be a 10 goal a season player at best."
Larssen's reasons for not wanting to move are well documented and he quite clearly stated that it would not be fair on his wife and kids to uproot them every few years so he could move on to other clubs. He is happy at Celtic and his family have settled well in Scotland. Larssen is one of the most natural strikers I have ever seen and would be the perfect foil for Henry at Arsenal.
He doesn't need to prove himself in England, he's already proven himself in Europe and the World Cup, and anyway If he wanted to prove himself in the best league in the world - he'd move to Spain.
Derby did win it once, but I believe Gemmill was better suited at Notts Forest who went on to win titles and European Cup with 'unknown' players at the time like Woodcock and Birtles. Of course led by the greatest manager in the top flight, Brian Clough.

Actually Man Utd were in decline by their normally high standards in these years. If memeory serves me correct, it was Forest and Liverpool who dominated as well as a VERY exciting team at the time, Ipswich led by a young Bobby Robson and boasted the talents of Butcher, Mariner, Mills etc
