When I can afford it, I will buy but I tend to stick to Ben Dover, as I know I'll be getting a good DVD for my cash, with some great fucking and a few laughs from people who are enjoying what they do, not doing it because it's better than working in Tescos.

I guess until the sex shop only supply issue can be tackled, prices will stay high. Like it or not, if I've got ?25 to spend I'll more than likely buy 5 top Hollywood films from HMV and not a single DVD from the local porn shop. Assuming you can get the title you want that cheaply.

I don't want to piss on people who are making this stuff and, in many cases, struggling to make a living at it, but a couple of things I'd like to see are a bit more variety in the scenes, lay off the slow-mo and if you're shooting a scene and a foot or arm gets in the way of the action at a vital moment, reshoot the cumshot. If possible

An example - I saw Cathula recently, a film I'd looked forward to seeing because it was trying to do something outside the usual handycam gonzo routine. I enjoyed it (why doesn't Jane Whitehouse do more b/g?) but there was one cumshot where the guy's arm was in the way. Would it have been impossible to retake that from a different angle and edit the scene? The camerman was aware of the problem as he shifted position...

That's being picky I suppose, but little things like that detract from the rest of the film a bit for me.

Brit porn isn't perfect, but neither is any other. We've got the performers to make high class porn and the producers willing to put product on the shelf, but all it needs is a little bit more attention with the direction, in my opinion.

Easy for me to say as a punter though.

Its a case of horses for courses as well as fashions in filming between the countries, in the States the Ken & Barbie films reign supreme but the British go more for the amateur type so this is why we make the films as we do.
Also you have a bigger market comparred to the British hence far more pennies to spend on new plastic look a like films, sometimes quantity works better than quality when it comes to the average customer.
We are very sorry you won't be buying anymore Brit films.

With regards to extras etc i think the best UK produced dvd iv seen with extras etc has got to be the Dogging Diaries lot...Hopefully Party Animals 1 and 2 will be following the same way!

If your talking value for money then DVDs in their present form are a waste of time my friend.Signing up to a broadband website for a months membership and getting umpteen movies and pics for the price of 1/2 dvds makes more sense to me

I'm not going old ground about the well documented/perceived short comings of UK porn but will say its nice to have a variety of styles to choose from worldwide.
Naturally some Producers are better at their craft than others so find out who you like and stick with them

If that means giving the UK scene the flick then so be it

The fact that the same performers are globe trotting all over the place means the real difference between any film is the Producer IMHO

I don't think there is any real hard and fast answer to this thread...Since being in distribution I've found that titles you expect to do well don't do as well as you expect them too....Dave has got a point though, most units do shift about the same regardless of the film but it depends how fast they get sold and re-ordered is what makes a good seller from an average one.
