Couple of quick points:

Everyone in documentary production been suffering from the fallout from "Against Nature" an RDF production from channel 4 - now six years old. This is the only time that I have heard of selective editing being used to misrepresent contributions.

Needless to say there are numerous BBC guidelines that the BBC about fairness of representation. This has been tightened all the more post-Hutton.

When I think of things like "Sex Empires" I think that the BBC can represent the industry in a positive fashion. We have spoken to some people involved in the programme and they were happy with the way the film went.

"Quick turnaround" simply means that we are looking to get things up and running as soon as possible. We want to have finished most of our filming by christmas. I find it can he useful to keep people informed of the timescale that we are working to. Better to be upfront I thought.

Yeah, to right. But you missed one major and current bias out - the Iraq campaign. The Beeb are unquestionably biased against that. Their news bulletins seem to be all - "Earlier today the Americans bombed and Iraqi children?s hospital in the Sunni triangle and later on shelled an Iraqi wedding party in Faluja".

This might be purely coincidental (like how many daytime BBC shows deal in pornography) but this is taken from today?s Teletext Pages:

BBC PLANS DAYTIME VICE PROBE:
BBC1 is to screen a shock daytime investigation into prostitution, porn and drugs.
Hosted by Sally Magnusson, Britain?s Streets of Vice will vocus on the link between drug abuse and sex for sale, how porn thrives on the web, and interviews with London prostitutes.
Daytime Controller Alison Sharman said: ?There?s a proven appetite among daytime viewers for gritty current affairs. It promises to be surprising, informative and controversial.?

???????????????????????????????????????????????????
It seems that if Porn is going to be coupled with prostitution and drug abuse you can bet your bottom dollar that it aint going to be shown in a very good light I would say. Amazing how some of these researchers tend to only tell half of a story aint it??
PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?

Obviously getting a little off topic...

As far as I could see those links there was only one complaint upheld, against Radio 5's report in 1999. However I'm happy to agree the BBC is not perfect we just try to be balanced. Given the amount of output it doesn't do a bad job.

If anyone is seriously interested then I would be happy to show them a full CV. (2 years as Current Affairs producer - one RTS award).

Thanks for the tip Lizard - I am getting some positive feedback. Glad to provide some entertainment with the flogging. Just feel there should have been a public health warning at the top of the page to warn me before I posted.

Sorry D, however good your intentions, it will not work! fact. If I had a camel for every 'doc maker' given a hard time on here, I would be a.....er, major camel owner. Anyway there are some friendly experienced producers, talent, distributors etc, who post on here regularaly(sp) my advice again would be to contact them directly, I am sure you will recieve some help and advice etc, alas I,m not one of them, I just brew up around here.
