So thats how it works. I've got it wrong about them sending standard 18 stuff - they offer 3 films on one tape so I assumed that it must be cut down h/c.
I'd also not understood properly since I'd assumed that the advertising of R18's had effectively been made illegal. So it's only illegal to advertise when that ad offers to supply by any other means than going to get your video or dvd from a licensed sex shop in person.
Thus an advert in Club, for ex, offering to supply by mail order only to the named credit card holder as a means of ensuring over 18 is now illegal, while an ad for R18 in a 'family newspaper' can offer 'British Buttlovers', 'Nympho Nurses' etc because, while it gives the impression they will be sent 'in plain packaging', you have to get them in person from a sex shop.
Now I think I understand, I'm not sure it makes sense, but I understand.
Cheers, Mike.
R18 - still legal to import?
Re: R18 - still legal to import?
Thank you Peter. That was more or less my understanding of the situation which, if I understand the current position correctly, has come about by means of the Judicial Review system, rather than any change to the existing law by Parliament. Some argue that new laws are needed to bring the whole thing under one piece of legislation. The problem is that new legislation might, indeed probably would be, more restrictive than what we have at present.
Re: R18 - still legal to import?
Complicated and irrational is the best way to describe it Mike. Thanks for introducing this interesting topic.
