No I couldn't, and that's one of the things that make them seem so desirable. They at least gave the impression of having a bit of class (no offence intended.) They held a mystique - dream girls, something to aspire to. We always want what we can't have. That's what drives us forward, to make ourselves worthy of such a dream girl.

I have read your posts on this thread and if what you are stating is purely your "opinion" then fair enough. But if what you have stated is describing the U.K porn scene today then you are totally off your trolley. I could continue to rant for ages but I indulge in this forum for enjoyment and education not to be wound up.

I regret we can't. The things that made the previous decades birds seem more desirable were cultural. Girls were more coy, feminine, and vulnerable. This is appealing to men. Standards have now changed and it's much more acceptable, and indeed fashionable, for girls to be loud and lairy, act like geezers, wear jeans, not be so concerned with their appearance. This is not so appealing to men, but it is all pervasive. It's popular culture. To make the kind of movie with the kind of birds you remember so fondly would require a Spielbergian budget to adequately feed, scrub up, reacquaint them with their 'womanly wiles' and clothe them in appropriately alluring garb.

That's why many in my position believe it's fucked.

I agree with John and Shaun and I make no apologies for that. British porn is alive and kicking because of the likes of John, Terry, Peter et al but most of all because the girls like Layla, Rebekah, Cathy etc are out there doing it and doing it well. They have a great following and long may it continue.

If I'm wrong and British Porn is dying it won't because of these people (or even me now I have the material I've produced in the shops) but because of (1) the law and the fact that to be legal we have to sell R18 videos through a limited number of shops (2) pirating (and one of the biggest pirates posts hear regularly under a pseudonym!)

Hey, don't (like many on here) lose sight of the fact that this forum does not constitute the whole "UK porn scene? all we have on here are a few porn stars, the same number of sycophantic porn star fans, a few producers, people who can't find anything more interesting on telly of an evening and a few interesting (though opinionated) tossers like my good self. What we don't have on here is Joe public, the thousands who buy the vids and sign up for the web sites, they are not fanatical enough to regularly visit here much less post comment. If they see something that appeals they may buy it. For them there is no ?scene.?

I try and look beyond this forum, to set it in the context of popular culture and society. You might say, "Oh so-and-so is wonderful and her last film was fab" But hey, guess what, out on the street they ain't sayin' that. In fact they have never heard of so-and-so, much less care about her film.

Evenin' Wendy. Thought you might have a point or two to refute. I do agree with you when you suggest that if they did meet some of those dream girls from the past - as I have - they might find find the idealised image of them somewhat tarnished. But this is a business where image is everything.
