After looking again I have another point to make.
As the car and teh cyclist seem to have met on teh same side of teh road, then surely one of them is on the wrong side of the road - we wont know which one though.
As MINIs were supplied without wing mirrors (as were most cars at the time), some owners would fit them themselves. They would normally fit a single mirror on the drivers side, it would be unusual to see them fitted to both wings. That leads me to believe that what we can see in the picture is the drivers side of the mini.
I am convinced its in Australia or New Zealand, as they had a lot of British cars over there but probably had the side indicator law way before we did.
