I think Cate has got to the nub here. The issue of choice is the over-riding factor. A porn performer may choose not to perform any sex act with another performer (be it intercourse/HJ/BJ/bukkake) and can be reasonably sure the other parties involved are certed.

A prostitute generally does not.

Also, I think Holly is mostly right in saying that the performer is selling the right to use their image in the creation of a product for commercial distribution (hence model release forms), but Benson is right to point out that thy are being paid for the sex-act to make that product a viable commercial product.

Note: These are just my thoughts, percolated through the coffee-filter of others postings and from a third hand perspective: I've never used a prostitute and never been involved in porn...

Pornstar or prostitute, I don't care where people draw their own lines or what they are willing to do to make a living, live and let live I say.

What the chap on the other thread is saying is out of line and I for one think that there is a distinct difference between being a prostute and being a model, (I doubt Tom Cruise could fly an F14 but he appear's to be able to on the other end of a camera. He is not a pilot but he pretends to be one).

I agree that name calling and making derogatory comments about the women who are in the business is childish and the guy is clearly a bit of a bully and a hypocrite as you say. I think the ladies around here are more than capable of ignoring it though and rising above it. I guess people have said much worse things about the adult industry in the past.

I think it is a shame that people can come on to places like this and spout off and make others feel ashamed or angry but at the end of the day, we are all people and some people are just nasty like that.

Its all about choice and to say a "prostitute" does not have a choice is utter bollocks, everyone has a choice, its all about sex at the end of the day and those high and mighty attitudes of some are frankly laughable. Prostitutes/escorts whatever you would like to catergorise are paid for there time, not to make a bloke cum, Models/Porn stars (and I use the word star very loosely) id rather say Porn actress as in my book it takes a heck of alot more to make a star, are also paid for there time, what you do with that time is "about" the same thing.

you are right in that an escort gets paid for their time, however in the original post, its not about escorts. Its about prostitutes or as the guy put it, whores. Prostitutes do not get paid for thier time, they get paid to provide a sexual service.
