i always doubted that this online cert thing could ever work realisticly or how it would even really benefit anyone.
my thoughts were always that its was about educating people and training them.
AIM make u sit and watch an induction film.
like when u start work on a building site u get health and safety induction.
the BAIHA site was going to be full of educational and helpful stuff aswell as the online cert facility - wheter performers read it was down to them.

Oh come on.... surely you can see this! Yes, testing is supposed to MINIMISE the risk... but unless you can "quarantine" - qucikly - the rogue element and all those that have interacted with the rogue in that period - you're doing bugger all to prevent a wider outbreak.
AIM doesn't PREVENT STIs - the beauty of AIM is that it rapidly puts a comprehensive lid on an outbreak.
Regular testing will not prevent STIs - no... and yes, I'm sure you're happy to let anyone phone up to check the validity of your cert - but how many actually do that? With an organisation like AIM you're taking further mitigating risk. Surely you can see that?!
I have to say I am astounded by your attitude to what can only be a good thing FOR YOU!

Absolutely nothing, Andy... and that's the core issue here - having an organisation who can put a lid on any outbreak should one - heaven forbid - occur.
The lack of foresight here is amazing... I'm staggered.

I think it's a brilliant idea. Due to the no name and shaming rule, I can't say who I'm on about, but I have seen fake tests, and lies several times... I'd rather someone had my name and date of birth, and have this service than not. People on the outside won't be able to tell which real name belongs to which performer.
Some of the actors on this board who haven't been around that long probably don't remember how vital that US database proved when combating the HIV outbreak in LA in 2004. 5 people, some of whom were friends of mine, tested positive for HIV, and if it hadn't been for that database, then I'm sure the number would have been a lot higher... People could easily track the spread of the infection
And for people who remember the Mark Wallace outbreak in 1998, he continued to fake his test after testing positive for HIV and went on to infect several females... That could not have happened with the current database in the US.
Disease is a reality, we shouldn't have to blindly trust people we hardly know waving a piece of paper at us. It is our lives we are messing with.

Errrr you are still not getting the point I made Donkey,
Noone would trust an organisation, even one as honest and well meaning as UKAP to have their personal information and health records for the reasons I already listed (hackers, people with grudges etc, fuck me even the government keep losing personal information and being hacked into!), and my attitude had never been in question by any producer I have worked for..
I am all for healthy discussion but you seem to only see it from your point of view..are you a Producer yourself Donkey? And as I keep saying to you, it just wouldn't work, it only works in the states 'coz the whole industry is based in L.A over there and the same performers work for the same reputable production companies and go to the same clinics., It just wouldn't work over here..
As i said, ANYONE who has a vested interest in seeing my Certs and calling the Clinic is entitled to do so, but ONLY the people who book me in, because they are the ones I am working for and with and it is nobody elses business).. But Naomi has made the best point on this thread anyway if you ask me..

Will this database also flag up models who provided services outside of the adult film arena?
Part of the reason earlier schemes have failed is because people would complain they would only work with other tested male / female models however these same people were happier accepting offers of non-porn work.
If we are going to have a database of tests & certificates, this should also be considered to give producers and the film talent a better picture of who they will be working and whether there are any additional risks of hiring that person.

That seems to take it to its logical conclusion Harry, and I agree with Isabel, it is unfortunately the few who are dishonest and willing to put other peoples health at risk that spoil the industry in this country and make the whole testing policy a bit futile really by, as Harry rightly pointed out, providing services outside of the adult film arena...
My issue is not with people knowing my test results (I have already pointed out to Donkey I am happy for anyone to call my health advisor at Medilab on the day of the shoot to validate my results), it is with the idea of my personal information being there for all to see, (and I know of a few models who really would have a problem with this for personal reasons i.e stalkers, exes finding out where they live..and there is no real secure way of holding this information the the web..that is the nature of the web unfortuantely)..
If the majority of performers favoured Terrys suggestion, then of course I would go along with it, as I think in principle it is a good suggestion, I just see more problems than solutions due to the points I have raised so far..

Sorry, Andy... you're not getting the point I'm making - ESSENTIALLY, there si NO REQUIREMENT FOR THE ORGANSIATION TO HAVE ANY OF YOUR PERONAL DETAILS!!!!!!!!
You get your tests done at the clinic...
You hand them your ID card with your Unique performers number.
The clinic contacts the agency and quotes yor unique perosnal number - they say "10203040506 - his tests are all clear for X, Y, Z" - you walk away witht he hard copy fo your cert.
The only thing the agency has is YOUR UNIQUE ID NUMBER. They dont kno who the fook you are - you're a number...
You go to a shoot - you produce your certs as normal... but the producer - being a switche don, safety conscious giy - recognising his need to abide by H&S legisaltion and wanting to keep a reputation as an all round good guy - he phones the central agency anyway and quotes the number on your ID card - "I have 10203040506 here, can you tell me if his certa are all up to date" - the agency replies "Ah, yes... 10203040506 - his tests were done on X and he's clear for X,Y,Z" - producer says "well 10203040506 is working with 1234567 and 7654321 today...". The agency log this and thats it.
All ref through the central database has been by a unique number that only you carry on your ID card.
Now if you next go for your tests and you test positive for something - the clinic calls the agency and says "10203040506 has tested positive for X - who has he worked with in the last 3 months.... and they'll have a long list of numbers and which clinics they are with. The clinics are then given the list of numbers and they then arrange to see those people who have been in contact wih you.... If they try to work in that period - a good producer, having cslled up the agency would know that they had worked with you and they were in quarantine so should send them home...
Do you not see ow it could work????? The agency need never havehad a record of anyones name....
And if t
Round of applause for Isabel!

... there are ways of making this work without the central database holding ANY of your perosnal details!
This is something you really need to embrace... make it work - find a solution - don't simply dismiss it and bury your head in the sand. The risks are real, the risks will NOT be removed but they will be reduced still further.
Be a little more open and receptive - it is for your benefit.
