as with most prejudice it's based on little evidence, my evidence includes
Taxi Driver - great introductory sequence, "you looking at me?",violent shootings, crap narrative

Raging Bull -b/w boxing film
The King of Comedy - Jerry Lewis in a flat role, Sandra Bernhard looked gorgeous - the mixture of sinister and entertaining was okay.

Cape Fear - one of his worst films, absolutely entertaining crap - the man who is difficult to kill, absolute bollocks logically but entertaining.

I've seen a bit of "The Big Shave" - man shaves himself to death - vietnam metaphor short.

I've not seen 'Boxcar Bertha (1972)' or much "Mean Streets"

The latest overhyped film looks really boring, almost 3 hours of it.

Cheers, Bayleaf (my Probation Officer says I'm not allowed to go Up West, alas), and thanks to the kind persons who mailed me with info. and offers of assistance. I really am quite touched.
As you've no doubt noticed.
