It's been said and said and said again, but girls need to be chaperoned. Always. They always should. Even if it's not a CP shoot, even if it's just a bog standard topless shoot, unless you're working with someone who has a cast-iron reputation and three hundred spotless references, bring someone with you.
I've in the past also had a bondage shoot where my safeword was ignored, I was tied to an upright dolly with my hands behind my back and gagged, and I was about to pitch forward. Had my chaperone not intervened I assume the two guys would have been happy to keep shooting until I fell on my face and broke my nose or something.
But that's nowhere near as bad as this - I've heard of girls going to spanking shoots and having to deal with complete amateurs who didn't have a clue what they were doing, but this is beyond the pale. I've heard of straight boy/girl shoots where models have been treated like shit and physically hurt by the assholes shooting them. As Elliot says (hi Elliot!), girls have been killed in the past on BDSM shoots. It's not worth the risk of getting killed, it's not worth the risk of losing two weeks' work, it's not even worth the risk of dealing with some pillock who doesn't know what he's doing. Bring a buddy.

You may disagree Ms Flame but I have heard the same thing happen to a few girls in my 12 years in this business.
Emily, girls dont always need to be chaperoned! If the business is like that I doubt as many girls would be getting into it as it looks like at the moment. Maybe around those who are not quite known by their peers in this industry probably. Thats suggesting we all cant be trusted. As if we are all leering perverts who pounce on lonely girls.
You've obviously had your fair share of trouble to make a comment like that.
As for me if a girl wants to bring a chaperone, then so be it. It doesnt bother me one iota, but if I feel said chaperone influences the outcome of my shoot ie jealous boyfriend, domestic problems, dad (shudder the thought) then I reserve the right to shut the shoot down and save my money.

To Katie Kay.
As a lot of the models on your Lauralee site come from the area concerned it might be in your interest to put a warning on your site about this guy
Same could apply to other modelling sites as well ( AIR , Edge Models, Be-Seen-Here ect )

with reguards to refs I have had a spate of guys giving me girls emails for refernces that I know damn well are yahoo mails the photographers have made up themselves.
when i did my research and found the actual girls websites and portfolio pages they did not respond to me.
however i got some very commending and similarly written emails from the dodgy yahoo emails.
just thought id mention it as a precaution.
seems nothing is safe at the moment.

I can only echo the best wishes that everyone else has put for the models wellbeing.
However while I hope it doesn't put the model off modeling I hope it not just puts her off doing similar shoots in future but also puts any other models off who may be thinking of doing the same type of work even with 'experts'.
As far as I am concerned any arsewhipe (male or female) who gets their rocks of by hitting another person is an arsewhipe and the same goes for people who enjoy seeing it.
There is simply no need for it and while my comments may offend some here who work on that side of the industry I don't really care.
!furious!

I don't think this needs to turn into a chaperone debate but surely the above story (as well as the six billion other verifiable stories there are about models being raped and abused) is evidence enough that girls shouldn't go to shoots alone.
It's an extremely well-known fact that many working adult models make up a large proportion if not the majority of their income working with people they had not heard of until the shoot was planned. That's not to mention girls who are starting out in the industry and don't know who ANYONE is.
I would never in a million years suggest that all pornographers or even all photographers are leering pervs out to rape or abuse models. I do wish people would stop assuming that models taking basic safety precautions is some kind of insult aimed at them. I haven't had much trouble, actually, but I have had some averted crises that would have gone a hell of a lot worse had I not been chaperoned. One bad apple out of 1,000 decent photographers or videographers is enough reason to impose a standard safety precaution.
Don't see it as a reflection on you or on the industry if a girl wants to be chaperoned. Just assume that the model doesn't take chances, and if anything respect her for it. I'm aware that there are a lot of models who don't feel the need to take that precaution. and good luck to them, but personally, driving halfway across the country to meet someone I've never heard of and put myself in an extremely vulnerable situation in front of them (i.e. naked and very possibly tied up) is not something I would consider doing alone.
