Disillusioned with the Industry
Re: Disillusioned with the Industry
The great thing about digital technologies is that they democratise participation in film-making, music etc If you don't think the results are worthwhile that's a matter of personal opinion but they shouldn't be disparaged as 'amateurs', 'moonlighters' or second class pornographers. You might not like what they do, but the point is that they don't need to ask for anyone's approval or permission to do it.

Re: Disillusioned with the Industry
Crumbs, women get suggestive comments made to them in offices, up and down the country, in everyday normal jobs.
Why should this be any worse in the porn industry!?
The porn industry is full of people trying to get what they can for as little as possible.
From what I can make out the porn industry is riddled with double standards.
As long as any rejection of an offer, suggestion, or proposition is accepted, no harm done.
It seems many people in porn to try and take advantage of people one way or another. I can think of one person in particular (uses the same name as an American rock band) for whom, retribution will be justly deserved.

You can get further with a kind word and a gun than you can with just a kind word.

Re: Disillusioned with the Industry
Dont get me started on this.
It is a a supposed established name that I have a big issue with. He / they have behaved no worse (or probaly worse) than any amateur.
The porn industry can be dodgy at both points ends of the porno spectrum, and all points in between.
If a photographer / pornographer, amateur or professional has a shoot with a model and provided both parties agree on what is required.. what's the difference?
I know the 'pros' can be more dodgy coonts than any two bit amateur.

Re: Disillusioned with the Industry
I dont think the problem is genuine amateurs who are trying to get into making it into the "big time" or genuine amateur photographers. The problem seems to be the guys who nip to argos buy the cheapest cam they can visit cheapasdogshitdomains.com (thanks **********) spend 7 quid so they can masqerade as an adult producer just to get their rocks off, making a compilation of fat, ugly, hairy backed old man getting a hand job or asking a model if you can take picture whilst you get a blow job has nothing to do with the adult industry. There are plenty out there who are happy making piss poor low quality shite and bunging on the internet or trying to palm it off on the public, then telling us how its everyone elses fault they cant make a good film.Relish is a good example of a company that work hard and usually turn out great stuff. ********** is another example of someone who turns out great stuff, stuff that rivals any european or american production.
The other thing about brit porn that is a problem is the "cant be arsed" lot who build a site tell you how great it will be put 3 vids on and then tell you how busy they have been and didnt have time to upload stuff, but its coming soon. Or the ones who manage to buy a holding page and thats it. The ones who can't be bothered to sort out distribution deals, killergram managed it and many others have managed it. If you dont have the time and resources or ingenuity and originality to produce good stuff..... don't bother save your money or in a lot of cases your investors money and get a 9 till 5.
I agree that some brit stuff smashes the rest of the worlds stuff into bits. Some producers, though have been making the same video over and over again they just change the girls. We have some of the hottest dirtiest natural girls in the world in the uk and we have some of the best and most innovative producers, directors so why arent we at the head of the global porn empire. Because too many industry types spend more time on politics, backstabbing and complaining than making their films. Or pissing half their budget up against a urinal after snorting the other half.

Stormchild69 I don't know you but from the supportive comments you've recieved from others I would imagine your one of the "good guys".
I remember a while back, myself becoming weary and angry with the industry and taking the "fuck it" attitude.
Emily Cartwright summed it up perfectly with this sentence :-
"And, of course, the fact is that the many guys who are sweet, kind and very professional make up for it all in the end - one good shoot can take the sting out of ten bad ones and remind me why I do this."
There will always be bad eggs both sides of the camera, quitting will never change that fact. But if a good guy quits it will mean proportionaly the equilibrium will change.... don't cut off your nose to spite your face.
Have a break ...but come back with a tougher outside shell...but still mushy and soft on the inside .....now thats a good egg !happy!

Behaving in a Professional manner is what counts on both sides of the camera - regardless of the individual's actual job.
What is needed is a bit of mutual respect.
Stormchild has his reasons for wanting to do something different and I am as certain as I can be that it has nothing to do with him being unprofessional.

Uh, why do they NEED to know? Are there guys out there who are so helplessly controlled by their dicks that they can't see a naked woman without asking her if they can f*ck her? I'm sorry, but if that's the case then they have no place working in pornography. Girls don't like to be made uncomfortable. They don't like to have to tell someone they thought would be a professional that their sexual advances are not welcome. Above all, they don't like to have to remind photographers that they came for the shoot and the cash, not to get leered at.
Asking couples if they want to do each other on camera is not the same thing, because they have sex with each other all the time anyway. The same thing would be asking them if you can have a threesome with them.
No, there's really no excuse to sexually harass models. If you feel that there's some kind of connection between you and a model, then why not ask her out for a drink after the shoot to see what happens. THAT would be perfectly acceptable. Saying that you want to screw her mid-shoot is just about the least professional thing anyone could do, and actually pretty offensive by anyone's standards.

Re: Disillusioned with the Industry
No prizes for guessing you've had some bad days in the industry then Emily.
I didnt say it was acceptable. I just think if it does rear its head girls should put their foot down firmly and politely...or rudely if they want but usually some blokes can take a mild hint.
Its not as if what you and I think about this is going to make a blind difference to those who perpetrate this is it?

Re: Disillusioned with the Industry
Its amazing how those fairly new to the industry seem to have all the answers, and as for the argument about amateurs and professionals even the pros started off as amats at some point so if you want a thriving industry dont knock the amats because a lot of the knockers only last a shortwhile in this biz !shocked!
