Bill,
Thanks for clearing that up, it just goes to show how lazy researchers can be especially on a program for a "mainstream" channel.
I have to agree with you on the GRUNGE front - it'll give those opposed to all things good in life (Mediawatch et all!) to restrict our freedom even more!

I've ordered Flesh Trade: Tales from the UK Sexual Underground
Amazon says it is going to be delivered
' Delivery estimate: 5 May 2005 - 19 May'
Is this going to come out soon?

Funny you should say this Jim and no offence to Miss Span but I do feel people tend to patronise her for doing porn as if its coming from another angle, more biuild up, more interesting etc. Sorry if I don't share the same sentiment. I do feel (and I've told Anna this) that her talents are wasted in this business. I could see her being the UKs answer to Jane Campion if she went more mainstream as I believe she has the talent but its funny how patronising people are to Anna because she makes porn and she's a woman. Maybe its here she really wants to make waves as we all know how difficult it is getting more mainstream and maybe its Annas backdoor way via notoriety into mainstream.
I want to be patronised because I am black making porn as I'm making it from an ethnic perspective. Everybody, patronise me because I am black. I am doing something to lift the spirit and empower my people (and have a damn good wank while you are doing so why dontcha)

I'm going to get shot down like a doodle bug on VE day but I think you'll find that Miss Span gets featured because her output is different to the normal style of sucky fcuky spit down my throat and do me dirty films. So its easy for the creators of main stream TV to say her stuff is cool.
I'm not sure I can accept that its because she's female

i'm sure there's an element of truth in what you say re. gender but i'd have thought more relevant to anna's meeja profile is her middle class-ness and being an unusually articulate spokesperson for an industry that doesn't always express itself too handily with it's kit on - not counting your super-cool, uber-dude, black-is-beautiful self, of course (is that patronising enough, bro'?).

Terry, I think if you approach Channel 4, ideally in a wheelchair and say that your gay, I can guarantee you walking away with at least 2 commissions:
Your first pitch should be:
1/"My Life As A Gay Stud", A sympathetic fly on the wall documentary on a gay studs hilarious antics, while he frequents various public toilets and gets rodgered senseless. Share his pleasure and his pain as he takes on 10 guys in a gang bang and he comes out laughing and ready for more. Its a laugh a minute and perfect for Breakfast viewing!
2/" My life was destroyed by Porn" An insight into the filthy, sleazy, disgusting and depraved activities of the makers of straight porn. You'll see the harrowing accounts of poor waifs being abused and humiliated by sick, drug crazed pornographers! See them weep, see them sob, see them plead to camera,"Hellllllp me!!!"
I'll have my normal 10%, when you pulled these!
