I don't know who calculated 20 years, but I don't think it's the equivalent of a running mean. Say pre-1990.

So yes to the information by e-mail, but even in e-mail not graphic pictures, please. They'd be illegal in either case at this end.

While reading the above that was exactly my thought, too.

No, beutelwolf, Holland is an Ersatz word that is being left by most of the Western European languages (save for the even prudent English language we speak in).

As for that Italian issue, I can say that
coming from the south of Europe with my black eyes, balding broad forehead, thick beard, and my olivish skin, I might say that I quite symapthase with what he's supposed to say. It's all about the stereotypes and what we tend to have a meaning out of them....still.
And, beutelwolf, seeing guys like Oliver Kahn, think that not many people would think of you as a "typical" Teuton. drink!

Dear alec, I got your message but what's the great deal about sending 'graphic' pictures since I'm sure that you won't be going to publish them at the website anyway.
jj, it's a pity that we're still in need of a rational British mind here to interprete what alec is supposed to say. !happy!

There are two provinces, North- and South-Holland, that make up Holland. As they include Amsterdam and Rotterdam (but not Leeuwarden, Groningen or Eindhoven), most people have come to identify Holland with the Netherlands, even more so than they identify England with Great Britain. And there are more languages than English that allow for the distinction, e.g. German has Holland and Die Niederlande, French has Hollande and Pays-Bas...

Even their own football fans identify Holland with the whole in their "hup, Holland, hup". In Britain, the closest equivalent is that England uses the National anthem at its international football matches, not one of her own.

Well, lookswise I probably tick quite a few boxes of typical Teuton. Overall, I'm the usual mix of things that largely confirm to stereotype and things that just do not fit.

I'm well aware of the provincial outlook of the Low Countries but what I tried to say that if you tell a person from, say Zeeland or Brabant he's from Holland he doesn't feel that his national identity is ignored but it's not the same thing if you tell a Scotsman he's from England.

After all the above, you still don't seem to have got the message-
there is a considerable [several months'] backlog in adding updates.
If you don't like it... well, tough titty, I'm afraid. We all have
to live with it, and most of us are mature enough to deal with it-
why do you think you're somehow worthy of special consideration?
Bumping the post implicitly suggests that you want, as it were, to
'jump the queue' by having your stuff dealt with immediately, while
I suppose everyone else's must just wait. Such behaviour is bad
manners, bordering on rudeness.
