All those nasty little details on his clients that he helped hush up over the years?

I for one hope he starts spilling as his client list constitutes some of the most odious creatures in Britain.

Saw this on twitter at work. Everyone I've spoken to today thinks he deserves everything he got.

For a PR guru, he failed miserably with his own. Nobody likes the guy.

Deluded too. Even walking in to court today he stood for photographs with a smirk on his face. It seems right up until the last, he thought he was untouchable.

Ok. He'll only serve four. Still i didn't think he would get that long a sentence. However i have no truck with the likes of Clifford. He may still appeal but he would have to provide evidence that all the women were lying (which is unlikely). I don't care if a celeb or an ordinary Joe get locked up for sexual abuse. I don't think you should be protected from being punished for these types of offences whoever you are. I personally don't have an axe to grind with Clifford. i hope he serves his time like a model prisoner and I don't wish him any harm. I do think Max was assuming he wouldn't get convicted due to the results in previous historical abuse cases.

Max Clifford is something of a Jeffery Archer type, exaggerating and even lying about things in his past. Clifford claimed for a while he was the Beatles' publicist, then it was revealed he was little more than the teaboy in the office of the company who represented them. He is a fantasist and also a spiv type character - very 'mutton dressed as lamb'. He thinks by donning the suit and buying the Rolls Royce he suddenly becomes more dignified and respectable. Sadly for him he does not.

Once he's done his four years in prison though I'm sure he'll be back running his business again, representing sleazy people and controlling various parts of the print media by doing deals with editors over what stories they will run. His sentencing does give us all a bit of hope though, knowing that even people like him are NOT untouchable.

Do people think it would have had the same outcome though had he been one of the FIRST of the recent names to be tried? A couple of them got off, Bill Roache being one, and people said the authorities were going after the wrong people. Maybe the jury took this partially into account. I'm not saying Clifford was innocent of the charges but he may have got off anyway like some of the others did. Bill Roache and others may have been genuinely innocent, but with at least two celebrity acquittals recently maybe the jury felt it was time someone went down.

Bill Roache didn't get off ? he was acquitted. To say he got off is akin to saying he did it, which he didn't.

No, nor me. I would thought one ground for appeal would be that he must serve his sentences consecutively. Even mass murderers serve their sentences concurrently.

You're absolutely right. After Leveson and the present phone hacking trials no tabloid editor with any sense would go near him.

'Got off' and 'acquitted' mean the same thing in my book. If you substitute one term for the other in what I wrote you will get where I'm coming from.

I know where you're coming from, I was just pointing out the legal niceties, not to mention the libellous ones as well .

Yea but I bet loads of celebrities are thinking shit he knowns too much about what I've been up too, there must be a few out there shitting themselves right now!
