"However you obviously have no problem whatsoever digging up information from the media about arrests on both sides. Even the link that you provide in this initial thread shows that Channel 4 make it absolutely clear that there were arrests amongst the UAF and they give the numbers."
I agree that the Channel 4 news piece I linked to did give information about the UAF arrests, I think seem to recall that a lot of the TV news coverage of marches like this over the months and years often imply that the trouble is all from the EDL side. I said earlier that people who look no further than the headline and see "100 arrested at EDL demo" will assume it was EDL people arrested.
"The bottom line is that the objective of the EDL demonstration in Tower Hamlets was as far as possible to intimidate and terrify the local Muslim population."
I wonder if that is the case. I see the EDL - most of them anyway, there are a minority within the outfit who are nasty racists who just hate everybody - as an organisation that is against the spread of Sharia Law, muslim extremism, the attempt by muslim extremists to stifle free speech and supress woman's rights, the attempt by a lot men in Islam to demand women cover up in public, the fact some small alcohol-free zones have been created in east London, and things like that. It seems quite frightening that as Islam gets bigger and bigger in Britain, as their birth-rate is much higher than everyone else's, that these things will only increase. I think it's good that the EDL went to east London to voice their opposition to muslim extremism. I just wish they would weed out the nasty, racist, Nazi-saluting minority within the organisation and expel them. I believe them to be a minority in the EDL.
Next. I wonder what would happen if the EDL were allowed to do one of their marches, the UAF didn't turn up, but enough Police did to ensure if there was any agro they could deal with it. I expect the whole thing would be quite peaceful, it's when the UAF show up and start goading them, some EDL people yell abuse back, both sides start throwing bottles at each other, both sides start lunging towards each other meaning the Police in the middle get hurt, there are loads of arrests (mainly arrests on UAF people) and so on. If the UAF didn't turn up, and I wonder what they really achieve by doing so anyway, then the day would go off much more peacefully I am sure.
