"No, I get irritated because you don't answer questions."
Well if you look at the forum, I am the only person who can be bothered to make multiple responses on a subject in reply to your questions. You should be grateful, if anything.
What I find a bit strange is that you actually agree with me but haven't spotted it yourself.
My initial statement which you objected to, was
"Was Mandela a terrorist or a freedom fighter? The answer to this question is largely down to your political views."
And I gave various examples to support this e.g. Northern Ireland where Martin McGuinness is viewed as a freedom fighter or a terrorist by certain groups of people. Similarly, the people who tried to blow up Hitler are regarded as terrorists or freedom fighters depending on whether they are a fascist or a German Jew or Communist etc etc.
Obviously I am not saying that Hitler is the same as South Africa which is something you got totally confused about in this thread. I merely give examples in history of how political views can influence whether you regard someone as a terrorist or a freedom fighter.
Like I said you agree with me, but haven't spotted it. You describe Mandela as a "wicked terrorist". Now you are hardly a socialist are you? Your views expressed on this forum fit into the UKIP-like right wing mould. I regard Mandela as a freedom fighter because I think it is justified for black people who were treated as subhumans by the apartheid regime to use violence to get their freedom. My political viewpoint is very different from yours and could be described as much more left wing. This is supporting my point.
Finally, re. your hangup on statues in Parliament Square with the Pythonesque "What has Nelson Mandela ever done for us". As I have previously stated, Mandela brought South Africa back into the Commonwealth as a democracy which is a considerable achievement.
If you have looked elsewhere in Parliament Square, you will see statues to General Smuts and Abraham Lincoln. Most people I suspect would struggle to explain what these two have directly done for the UK.
I really don't think you should get so het up about who has a statue. After all, even the likes of Margaret Thatcher has a statue. Unbelievable eh?
I will definitely leave it now on this thread as far as you are concerned before you get even more irritated by my disagreeing with you.

I voted Labour in every election ? local, national and European ? up to TB's second term. I was up for Portillo. And I still vote Labour in local elections...

Essex Lad - true Labour
Yeah the person who argued that Margaret Thatcher was a typical Labour left winger and that Nelson Mandela is a "wicked terrorist" who should not have a statue for him in the UK. And praised Maggie for saving us by destroying the "KGB backed unions".
Solid Labour supporter.
This really, really is it now. I thank you for giving me a good laugh anyway. Much appreciated!

More lies from Johno
Ah once again, you are making stuff up to suit your own agenda.

I NEVER said she was a typical Labour left winger.

True, I did.
And

Show me where I said the unions were KGB-backed. I'm a member of two trade unions.

Again, where did I say that? I said I had voted Labour until 2001 and still vote Labour in local elections ? because the Liberals are a waste of space and I could never bring myself to vote Conservative.
I await your apology for your appalling misrepresentations. But that's what you left-wingers do best ? smear, misrepresent and lie.

Essex Lad
Solid Labour supporter. It's called satire, old boy!
Meanwhile, to save you the amount of steam that seems to be coming out of your ears
Maybe they won't "piss you off" and act like "cunts".

Re: Essex Lad - true Labour
You still haven't shown where I said Lady Thatcher was a "typical Labour left-winger". You merely posted a link that I posted in the previous posting. I didn't say she was a Labour left winger however much you may want to believe that I did.
I grew up in the Labour Party of Harold Wilson, Jim Callaghan, Denis Healey, George Brown ? when the party was anti-Common Market and pro-working class. How different from today's poor excuse of a party. You'd never guess that the party evolved from socialists, Fabians and Methodists.
