I remember the first time I ever saw 'The Birds' when I was a kid and it worried me for awhile walking past trees with birds whistling as it probably did many a kid. Now of course it's no problem at all because there aren't any birds anymore (round our way anyway) except the odd magpie or blackbird and of course a few flying rats (pigeons) !

Mate of mine (now sadly deceased) was a budding film director and was absolutely smitten by "Rope" because it was to all intents and purposes shot in one take without editing. Hitchcock filmed it in such a way that the necessary cuts he needed to make when changing camera film took place as he passed the camera behind a piece of furniture.

Fantastic.

They should put that on at the cinema. Would catch out the late-comers and you'd save a tenner on the popcorn!
