Pete Townshend's statement at the time:
"From the very beginning I acknowledged that I did access this site and that I had given the police full access to all of my computers. As I made clear at the outset, I accessed the site because of my concerns at the shocking material readily available on the internet to children as well as adults, and as part of my research towards the campaign I had been putting together since 1995 to counter damage done by all kinds of pornography on the internet, but especially any involving child abuse. The police have unconditionally accepted that these were my motives in looking at this site and that there was no other nefarious purpose, and as a result they have decided not to charge me."

"As a statutory consequence of accepting the caution, Townshend was entered on the Violent and Sex Offender Register for five years."

Townshend broke the law and I guess has paid a high price for it, this will never leave him. But once you have been to court and done your time should you be allowed to carry on? I think no matter what Gary Glitter does he will always be on trial, he will never be forgiven, it has nothing to do with law it is the mob rule, he becomes the victim of the vigilante world, I bet he gets attacked by people all the time.

"I bet he gets attacked by people all the time."
No chance. He's got some great disguises.

No, he doesn't get attacked, because he lives in a beautiful, mega wealthy part of Richmond in Surrey, a couple of doors away from the Jaggers. Richmond town centre is rigourously patrolled by the police (Yes, patrolled by the police!) and anyone who remotely looks like a Chav, is normally stopped and questioned, so the idea of a mob of flaming torch wielding Chav vigilantes, attacking Townshend's mansion is pretty unlikely. They'd probably be machine gunned!

Jim I meant Gary Glitter being attack as I said in my post:
"no matter what Gary Glitter does he will always be on trial, he
will never be forgiven, it has nothing to do with law it is the
mob rule, he becomes the victim of the vigilante world, I bet
he gets attacked by people all the time."

It appears to be a fake. Who'd have thought it?

"Great Disguises" - They are usually just old granny wigs and a hat, makes him look a bit like Denise Welsh!

Regardless of Glitters crimes...he did put out some cracking records, the 70's would have been nothing without him.

Exactly. Ask yourself this - how many people go around attacking Denise Welch?
