Thanks for a well informed contribution.
The really sad thing is that the self same "mistakes" are going to be made again with the privatisation of the Postal Service.
That's if they were mistakes in the eyes of the powers that be.
The service to the public is much, much worse than it was and the price we pay is much, much higher.
But no doubt s few fat cat bastards have made a wad of money from the process and maybe that was the primary objective and service and cost to the customer is immaterial.
Ofcom are now the regulator for the Postal Service, knowing their track record with BT I now have every confidence that they will completely cock-up the privatisation of the Postal Service.
But, again I maybe looking at this the wrong way. Just because we will all end up paying lots more for a much degraded service does not mean they will have cocked things up!
Throw in removal of the Universal Service obligation and a few tens of thousands of job losses, is that such a bad thing in the eyes of the establishment?
The primary objective has got to be to make millions and millions for a few fat cat bastards so and can bung a bit to the Tories.

One day we might get a government that has the balls to re-nationalise, with no compensation, some things, like water, gas and electricity.
Bring it on
Sadly there more chance of flying pigs and pink elephants being bred than this happening anytime soon.
