Did you assume the mighty Belgian would be in the back four ? He may be out for up to two months.
To have a good passing game in your opponent's half you need to keep a high line, which means needing pace at the back. Mertesacker has the acceleration of a lame horse and the turning circle of an oil tanker.
Wenger must know what he's doing, though. !shrug!
