Clever. And here's me thinking the topic was worth discussing seriously without childlike point-scoring.

Wrong question. First question you could/should have asked was

"So DJ why did you think Theresa May was completely and utterly useless"?

And my answer would have been is that on the third day of the riots viewed by the Met as the worst violence in living memory in London, here is a Home Minister, dragged seemingly kicking and screaming from holiday to spend the entire 5 minute interview saying over and over again, I am going to speak to the Met officers to understand what has been going on and what they need.

Obviously, those discussions should have already taken place at some point during the period when Croydon, Tottenham, Enfield, Clapham, Hackney etc burned!

As to your question about who would be better. Anyone at all who is more proactive and gets on top of a situation early on and acts quickly.

"You want me to answer questions no one else can answer?"

I have attempted to answer the questions I pose, below

What are your answers to the two questions I asked?

Sigh!

If you are asking me to choose someone from the Tory Cabinet they are all a bunch of useless tossers as far as I can see.

Prescott would be my choice. John Prescott wouldnt have any buggering about. Man of the people. Working class background. Can throw a punch. Doesnt sound like Bertie Wooster like Boris Johnson does. Or an aristo twerp like Cameron does.

And while I'm on the subject, Theresa May was interviewed on Five Live tonight about the 20% cuts of policing.

16,000 police on London streets last night coming from all over England and Wales. Riot in Manchester last night! What a surprise.

When this was pointed out to May, she just rabbitted on about the usual back office cuts not affecting the front line policing.

Total bollocks just like we had all the total bollocks about council cuts not affecting front line savings or NHS cuts (sorry, savings!) not affecting front line services.

I'm mostly in agreement with you. Capitalism widens the gap between the rich and poor, while encouraging a belief that you have to have this and that to belong. People, even if better off, feel worse off, are more prone to depression and anger which may lead to more riots and crime. Tory governments are more capitalistic (historically) which may be a clue why we have more rioting during Conservative terms of power.

These riots, however, can't be blamed on the recent cuts and I've given the reasons why I think so already on this thread.
