You are missing the point.

Max is arguing that the police are on eggshells with regard to dealing with crime amongst particular minorities.

My point is that the stop and searches of black and Asian people has gone up by 70% in London over the past 5 years.

If as you do, you assume that these groups carry out excessively large amounts of crime considering their numbers, then you would expect the figures to roughly stay similar over the last 5 years or see a small increase.

I dont see how you can argue as Max does that a 70% increase in stop and searches amongst black and Asian people equates to treating minority groups as if the police are stepping on "eggshells".

and no murder committed, just plain old arson, looting and suchlike,

new reality video show could be made out of it with members of the

Not by me. My point about stop and search is purely aimed at Max arguing that the police have a softly softly policy on black crime, a recurring theme in Max's posts on this forum. I dont think he is right and pointed this out.

It WAS the black community who were rioting in Tottenham last night. Maybe it's the case that if you push any community hard enough they will riot, the trigger for this was guy getting shot on Thursday; just like the trigger for the riot there 26 years ago (I remeber when it happened) was because a woman died in her house when Police were searching it. The trigger for Brixton in 1981 was the 'suss laws' and Operation Swamp. Young black men were being stopped and seached all the time and then the area exploded. There is no justification for burning buildings and looting.

The murder of PC Keith Blakelock during the riot in 1985 led to the biggest manhunt in the Met's history. He was stabbed dozens of times. His colleague was hit over the head with a machete, luckily he was wearing his helmet. When he took his helmet off later it fell in two like an easter egg. His head would have been cut in two had it not been for his helmet. He and Keith Blakelock had gone to assist some firemen who were being attacked (?) and one Police officer was murdered and the other nearly murdered. Those rioters were scum people.
