Thanks both of you. I was told by someone that anti depressants are very addictive and that is kinda scary to me. The counselling approach might be a good idea, and/or those over-the-counter tablets you get at the chemist, like either St Johns Wort or this thing Boots do called Mood Lift.

I suppose some people interpret certain terms differntly. Being 'wound up' in general is how I would define anxiety, and also being bothered by the past is to be worried about the future because you are concerned that the demons from your past will keep bothering you every day from now onwards, so the past is the future in a sense.

I suppose everyone has some things from their past they are angry about, but it is how one deals with it now that is the key thing. I have found that I am often fighting this rear-guard action against my own mind as it seems so keen to wind me up about stuff where as if I had my way it wouldn't. As I said earlier I wake up feeling fine and then my mind talks me into it.

That makes sense. PTSD is something that I think many people suffer from to one degree of another, be it the legacy of a bad workplace experience, abusive parent, aftermath of a street mugging or whatever. The people I feel most sorry for with this are soldiers who have had terrible times in wars, then come home and have very little support from anybody.

"Anxiety can be rooted in the past too. PTSD is all about past events making you feel anxious today even when the situation that made you anxious has long gone. The basis of any neurosis is about cognitive repetition of past events or thoughts. Saying it is all about the future is total nonsense."

Duly noted, hopefully the clinical psychologist with a PHD who claimed it was and who's definition is included in clinical definitions of anxiety reads the opinions of gobshites on porn forums.

As the op said he felt like 'punching a wall' not that he felt anxious.

"being bothered by the past is to be worried about the future because you are concerned that the demons from your past will keep bothering you every day from now onwards, so the past is the future in a sense"

Well you have done the right thing by consulting the members of a porn forum to sort it out for you !happy!
