Whatever spin you wish to put on the statement does not prevent it being extremely negative.
No spin. Just facts. It IS a once in a lifetime opportunity (when was the last time we were offered a referendum on voting reform?) And it IS (if you're an advocate of PR) a miserable little compromise. If anyone was trying to spin anything, it was you, David. Oh, and talking about the last time we were offered a referendum on voting reform: it was during the run-in to the 1997 election, by Labour. Once they were in power, though, they changed their mind.......or forgot. I was only 21 back then and getting laid to often to care so my memory of this is a little hazy. I think I'm right.
This is not about you. Sorry!
You've lost me. I assumed you posted that link about the pros and cons of AV in a reply to me, whilst me and you were discussing the subject. If you don't want me to give my opinions on a link then why post said link? You want me to read them and say nothing? How strange.
My post which you responded to was about Clegg's reasons for supporting AV. Clegg is talking his usual disingenuous nonsense. The Channel 4 link trashes some of his arguments in favour of AV.
But I never advocated any of the myths that link debunked. I don't understand why you posted it when I'd not even put forward my stance on the possibilities of Brown still being in no 10, nor mentioned one of the reasons I wanted AV was to cut down the possibility of MP expense fiddling. My very first post to you, on this thread, was just to defend Clegg's statements about AV being both a compromise and a once in a lifetime opportunity. Again, if you don't want me to comment on a link stop bloody posting them in your replies to me.
No. It is part of a trend. Clegg is by far the most hypocritical, dishonest politician of his generation.
In your opinion.
One minute he is trashing the Tory plans to hammer public services, the next he is supporting them in return for power as my link shows.
Yeah. Bloody compromises, eh? And all from a website named 'liberalconspiracy.org'. Imagine your reaction if porn historian had posted a link from a website called 'muslimsinbedwiththedevil.com' where their sole purpose of existence was to just highlight the bad things Muslims do.
Hurry up and get off on that long weekend. You might come back with other things to discuss aside from politics and your arch nemesis, Mr. Clegg.

Re: Yawnfuck
So your opinion is what? Since the polls say 50/50 we shouldn't bother?

For a long time I have wondered if we would be better off if everyone was forced to vote by law. I believe Australia have such a system.

Sam, really!
"Hurry up and get off on that long weekend. You might come back with other things to discuss aside from politics and your arch nemesis, Mr. Clegg."
What? You haven't seen my eclectic posts on a cash machine eating my card, Berlusconi's life as a Hollywood blockbuster played by Danny de Vito, my perceptive comment on Arsene Wenger as managerial genius and my stunning repartee about the Liverpudlian gran who shagged her family dog. And that is just this week!!!!!
On top of all that in the spirit of Cameron's Big Society, I am doing an unpaid care in the community gig, communicating with you on more than one response, though commonsense tells me that this is a mistake. Let's face it, who else on this forum would spend more than one message in a reply to you?
Mr. Slater, you are the the Sancho Panza to my Don Quixote.
PS Stop going on about Cleggie. It's bad for you.
Cheers

How apt. You've been tipping at windmills since May! !laugh!
Sancho Panza was a bit simple but Quixote the deluded madman. I'll take it as a compliment.
I suppose with your inability to change tune you can be Rucio. Hee-haw, hee-haw, hee-haw!

Re: Yawnfuck
Fair enough. Given that you think half the population are chavs, too think to work it all out, what percentage of the non-chavs want AV?
