There were 43 protestors and 12 police hurt. One wonders who exactly came under sustained attack - police or protestors?

I suspect that the police were better protected with body armour,helmets and shields etc .To injure a policeman probably required a lot more force. A blow to an unprotected body would cause more damage with relatively very little force. Hence a higher injury rate.

Hove you thought that maybe he had a weapon in his hands and the police were simply defending themselves? The term "reasonable force" comes to mind.
