I have to agree with David Johnson and, frankly, some of the short-sighted,
xenophobic and dumb comments to this posting are sad in the extreme.
I totally understand that some folks dislike these Moslems in a far
away land whose people include thousands suspicious and hateful of the
West.......but I suggest that we are not talking 50 or 100,000 in need but
millions including many million women and children......it takes a hard and
inhuman person to refuse to spare a few bob if there is a chance it might
help just a little. Yes, their politicians are corrupt but that should not stop
us trying !
And a word for the future to the xenophobes - the failure of the West to get
behind a major initiative here will resound back with even more hate in ten
to thirty years. I may not live to see it but our failure to show humanity
today will create even worse repercussions down the road, just wait and see.
