Magical Mystery Tour was not released in the UK as an album though! It was originaly released as a Double EP, with only the songs of the film appearing on it. I.E. Magical Mystery Tour, Your Mother Should Know, I Am The Walrus, The Fool On The Hill, Flying & Blue Jay Way.

It was then released in America as a full album by the Beatles Capitol Label by adding a second side of the singles and B-Sides released durin 1967. Thats how Strawberry Fields, Penny Lane, Hello, Goodbye, All You Need Is Love & Baby You're A Rich Man ended up on it. These were never intended for Magical Mystery Tour & had all been released during 1967 before the songs for Mystery Tour were recorded.

It was only released in this format in the U.K. in 1976 as so many people were buying import copies from the States. and when changing the releases over to CD's in the 80's this was added to the catalogue, although it was never an official British release. You can still get the original E.P version with book if you buy the Beatles E.P. Boxset and you can also find it on Vinyl!

I believe you are mistaken there Steve.

Baby You're A Rich Man, was a composite song, comprising of two parts that Lennon and McCartney had. Lennon wrote the verses, 'how does it feel to be one of the beautiful people.....' McCartney the chorus, 'Baby You're A Rich Man, Baby You're.....'

The song was the last recording session that Brian Epstein appeared at before he died. And so the story goes, that Lennon, who loved to taunt Epstein and could be viciously cruel sang, during the coda the words Baby You're A Rich Fag Jew! As a dig at Epstein's race & sexuality. And apparantly if you listen with headphones you can actually hear him sing Baby You're A Rich Fag Jew! You are going to try it now, aren't you?
