Early indications are that he died from eating some 12 year old nuts.

Hi
A real shock.
I know there was all this other baggage that went with him, but one thing that is difficult to take away from him is the fact that he was one of the greatest performers/showman of the 20th century, in live and video performance.
I particularly liked his stuff that he did with the wonderful Quincy Jones who produced Thriller. The fact that Quincy Jones had also worked with Sinatra, Miles Davis, Dinah Washington lends weight to the importance of Jackson musically.
Cheers
D

I had a company involved in providing security for the Jackson freakshow,in Europe,in late 80s.He may have been a good musician, but as a person,he was deeply troubled. He seemed to collect similar people around him.I do remember a UK female pornstar of the time, pleading with me to arrange an introduction to him,as she wishes to ''mother'' him!!!

It's just the way of things. If Jagger died they wouldn't be showing footage from the Steel Wheels tour. If Bowie died it wouldn't be the Hello Spaceboy video. For better or worse these people are defined in the media and public mind by a small proportion of their output and by their 'imperial' phase of popularity. For Michael Jackson that was the 80s which is what you'll tend to see.

Probably because it isn't a crime to fool people - you really have to admire Uri for fooling so many people for so long, that in itself is a talent.

Quite true. Songwriting in particular seems to be a young man's activity. Even the best like McCartney, Stevie Wonder and Elton hardly wrote anything worth a listen after they turned 35.

I met Uri Gellar with his son in McDonalds in Barnet and thought to myself...What is he doing here? Especially since he nodded hello to me. So he's a ok in my book because he couldve just ignored me and carried on his business.
